Chin straps
Chin straps
Anyone Have opinion on a chin strap to use with nasal mask? I tried that white one that reminds me of ace bandage and too wide.
Re: Chin straps
may i suggest a firm foam cervical collar? you can find them on amazon or in the old folks aisle of your drug store. (i can say old folks cuz i ARE one!)
over where the crutches and other things are displayed.
i prefer this to a chin strap to help keep my jaw up.
good luck!

Re: Chin straps
I’m new to cpap sleep therapy and use a chin strap. I also use a nasal mask. I found the black Responics Premium Chin Strap is the one that worked for me. It pulls the jaw straight up and is adjustable two ways. Best of all, no jaw ache. I was given the Topaz chin strap to try, but it pulled my jaw back and caused my jaw to ache. The Ruby chin strap looks similar in design to the Topaz, so I would think it would pull the jaw back as well. Now some people do very well with that design and love them. You will have to try chin straps out to see what your specific needs are. If a chin strap does the job without an aching jaw, then it’s the one for you. I also tried the wide white chin strap, but didn’t like the process of putting it on. It too pulls the jaw straight up. By the way, I put the Responics Premium chin strap UNDER my ResMed N30i headgear. Using it under allows me to make mask adjustments if I need to make changes and have no problems with getting a good mask seal. Not much seems to bother the ResMed nasal or pillow mask and the N30 headgear, thank God! I started with a full face mask and had a really hard time with it, but now am appreciative of my new equipment. Good luck in your search!

Re: Chin straps
not to be contentious, but what do you mean by "looked at"? are you saying you didn't try it?Batty1 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 4:46 pmI looked at that neck thing but that won't work for me.zonker wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 1:01 pmmay i suggest a firm foam cervical collar? you can find them on amazon or in the old folks aisle of your drug store. Re: Chin straps
For what it’s worth:
I just wanted to add that other equipment some people chose may not be as “traditional” as a chin strap. But the need for sleep makes for some inventive answers and ends in giving them the sleep they need. Cheers.

Re: Chin straps
I wear a P10 mask with a scünci headband as a chin strap. I’ve cut a long slit into the headband to mimic how the strap for the P10 works, since I think it helps keeping it securely on.
Best of luck
