Timed Breath 676 Events. Should I be worried?

Post by sleepinglass » Tue Nov 12, 2019 5:45 pm

I installed Oscar on my laptop and it works, it is reporting events!

I noticed that in the detailed section it reports Timed Breath 676 Events last night.

I am not sure of the significance of these events and if I should be worried.

My new Dreamstation BiPap Auto SV settings are as follows:
Epap Min: 6
Epap Max: 20
PS Max: 17
PS Min: 5
Max pressure 25
BPM: Auto
Bi-flex off

On my old System One PR Bipap Auto SV advanced the settings were:
Epap Min: 9
Epap Max: 12
PS Max:12
PS Min: 5
BPM: Auto

With these settings on my old machine all was well and I never ever woke up during the night. I slept like a log.
Put similar settings on my new Dreamstation however I wake up in the middle of the night every night, for a month now, since I have started using the machine which is very odd.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

congrats! now that you've got oscar working, the next step is to start posting charts here and let the experts give you advice based on what they see in said graphs.

good luck!
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Thank you Zonker.

Much appreciated. it will probably take me 6 months or so to work out how to post my charts as I am not very technically minded.
I did it once, many years ago but do not have a clue as to how I did it.

However, I know that there are many veteran ASV users, who I am sure would have said something if there was anything peculiar about having such a large number of timed breaths and if my machine needed a slight adjustment.

So I shall assume it is something I can quite happily ignore, till I see my sleep doc in 12 months time.
By the way, I have left many messages for my MD regarding my new machine over the last month, as I am feeling rather tired, but no response received as yet and it is quite normal to ONLY be able to speak to the sleep doc, once a year or every 18 months, as they do sometimes cancel booked appointments, because they are so booked up.

There seems to be, not much more, that I can do, but put up with it.

There are a lot of things I know nothing about, ASV being one of them.

And yes, they're is a lot of expertise here. But ASV use is really in the minority.

But the assumption that there are ASV experts here and if this was bad they would have said something is not a good assumption.

Maybe it's not a problem, I don't know.

Hearing nothing, does not necessarily mean everything is fine.

What operating system do you use on your computer?

I don't know if I would worry about the number of timed breaths reported by OSCAR unless I confirmed it with Encore Pro because OSCAR /SleepyHead is known to have some problems with the DreamStation ASV machines. It's buggy.
Encore Pro is Windows only software though and a bitch to install and use.

Over how much time are we talking about that is saying 676 timed breaths....one hour? 8 hours? 10 hours?

Thank you Dog Slobber for your response.

Hi Pugsy,
It could well be an Oscar bug as i do not recall seeing that on sleepy head with my old machine!!
Mind you on the old machine it could have been called something else, possibly pressure pulse??

676 timed breaths over 4 hours and 30 minutes.

Last night it was even more, 863 timed breath events over an 8 hour period.

I will try to install Encore Pro on my laptop, to get a clearer picture, once I can locate where i can find a copy the programme.

Thank you.

You will need the latest version of Encore Pro and that can be found over on the apneaboard forum.
You will have to be registered and logged in to see the private stuff for how to get the software download via email.
