Adjusting my machine

Post by bluper@cableone.net » Thu Nov 07, 2019 12:59 pm

Hi all,
I hear everyone talking about turning their machine up or down, adjust inhale and exhale. How? My sleep Dr. Controls eveything. He has never shown me a graph of discussed what he is doing. I go in and he says uh ha, uh ha. I am turning your pressure up or down. That's it. It is all done through the modem. He is the only sleep Dr. Within 200 miles of me. The ONLY place I can get a machine gave me no choice what I was getting. They chose my mask also. I just ordered a nasel mask from Amazon and called the medical supply place to tell them I had changed mask and they needed to change it in my file so my new supplies will be the right mask. They told me I cannot change my mask just because I don't like the one they provided. They say Medicare won't cover supplies for my new mask. Has anyone had this problem. How can I take control of my cpap needs. No I can't move.

welcome to the zoo! someone will be along shortly to give you the download link. what you need is the clinicians manual which will detail the steps you need to take to adjust your pressure yourself.

but please don't go off half cocked on this. if you could, please download the free oscar software. this will gather data from your machine in the form of a graph. take that graph and post it here for the experts (i'm NOT one!) to review. once they see that data, they will be able to make specific suggestions on just what pressure needs you have.

it sounds like a lot, but i'm sure you can do it.

see the link in my sig for the link to download oscar.

good luck!
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

How?
Please read the sticky "Newbies" at the top of the index page and follow the links to install and use OSCAR. Continue to ask questions in this thread. Stick to this one thread until you have made some significant progress. These helps people aiding you to easily see your history.

As you may have noted, most of the advanced users control their own therapy and don't depend on a medical professional to change machine settings.

Your supplier is an idiot...Medicare DOESN'T CARE what mask or machine you use. You can change your mask whenever you want, but you are limited by the Medicare supply schedule as to how often you can re-order supplies. Check with other Respiratory supply stores in your town to see if they accept Medicare.
Got to the Apnea Board and order the Clinical Manual for your specific machine and start to make your own pressure changes.

The provider manual explains how to get into the hidden settings so you can change things yourself.
You can request it here via email. Get it and read it...lots of good stuff in the clinical/provider manual that isn't in the user manual.

They are telling you a bold face lie about Medicare not paying for a different mask. Medicare doesn't care one bit which mask you use...they just want you to use one and they only pay for things per their replacement schedule.

Don't let them push you around.

Here's the replacement schedule for Medicare

Well, you can reorder supplies every day, but Medicare won't pay for them that often.

Hello, I installed OSCAR and inserted the card, but my ResMed 9 only captures "Compliance Mode", so not no useful data except pressure.

Can I change settings on my ResMed 9 to record AHI and other data?

Thanks for any advice.

There's over 13...

But if there's nothing useful, it's probably an Escape or Escape Auto.
