Routine endoscopic screening with known sleep apnea - accommodations?
Re: Routine endoscopic screening with known sleep apnea - accommodations?
Thanks to everyone who answered my question about the need for the CPAP machine during or after upper and lower endoscopies. Sounds like II probably don't need it. Now all I need is for the results of those tests to be negative (and to get past the disgusting prep).

I just had shoulder replacement surgery...as far as CPAP use, I brought it for use overnight...Nothing for during or after surgery. Anesthesiologist said she would take care of me. I have never brought it for my many endoscopies or colonoscopies

I would always inform the patient about getting evaluated, and I would include the suspicion of sleep apnea in my notes to the primary care MD.ChicagoGranny wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 1:39 pmYou guys may be on the front lines of apnea diagnosis. I have two friends who were told to get sleep studies after their gastroenterologists observed apnea during their colonoscopies.RobertS975 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2019 12:03 pmSpeaking as a gastroenterologist who has performed many tens of thousands of procedures, there are many variables at play here.
Heart surgeons are also finding it.

I was asked to bring mine in case of unexpected emergency. I label the case with a name tag and a
medical equipment tag and a sticker label on my machine. I always do if there is a chance of over night. They put the case under the gurney and it goes with me.
