Complete change in blood work

Post by metaltech » Fri Oct 04, 2019 7:53 am

I have been on bipap therapy for about 4 months. I have been on bipap s/t about a month. I have noticed a drop in A1C, cholesterol, weight (30+ lbs). I have reduced water retention or edema (CHF patient)I am down to the prediabetic stage from full blown diabetic levels. I feel I breathe better(deeper) and seem to expel more mucus from my lungs like they ate clearing up. I just feel better. My AHI has dropped from 69 to under 15 . Is this actually a byproduct of my therapy? Has anyone experienced this?

That's what a continuous flow of oxygen will do for your body....You still need to get your AHI lower.

That's pretty impressive and quick results. Might be just a tad bit jealous. :) I do find that the better I sleep, the less edema I have. And it makes sense about the blood sugar since stress and illness can run it up, and the stress hormones that come with untreated sleep apnea have got to be hard on the body. Good luck as you go forward. Agree about getting that AHI down more. Imagine how good you might feel once your therapy is fully optimized!

A poor night’s sleep has a profound effect on blood glucose levels which in turn affects othe metabolic pathways:

I have been on bipap therapy for about 4 months.
sorry, i don't have the experience to answer your question. but i see others here have and have.

i'm just sticking my nose in to suggest you may want to get the free software called oscar to monitor your cpap journey. NOTE! this software won't run on any mobile devices, if that makes a difference to you. currently, it runs on mac or windows. well, linux too but that's a bit "in the weeds".

once you have the software, you can take screen shots of the charts oscar produces. you can then post those charts here for the experts to look at and advise you of any changes you could make to improve your therapy.

i'm saying all of this because you mentioned your ahi fell from 69 to 15. with guidance, you can get that much lower and it will help your sleep and therapy.

see my sig for the link to download oscar.

good luck!

I have downloaded oscar. My #’s on Oscar the past few days has shown an AHI of 1.2 - 3.5. The only #’s I had to use were on the Dreammapper app. These are now showing around 7.3 -8.5. There is a huge difference.

please post these oscar charts for comments. experts need to see what events comprise your ahi.

we are each of us different. so they need to see the data in order to advise.

good luck!
