Attention to sequence of events

Post by D.H. » Wed Sep 04, 2019 10:51 am

To those who find that they remove the mask at night, I just got this tip from a behavioral therapist.

Establish an exact order of doing things, and make a rule to follow this order strictly. Here is a sample sequence (you can vary it as long as you’re consistent).

In the morning, reverse the order as closely as possible. If necessary, have an abbreviated sequence for potty breaks. For potty breaks, you generally don’t need to fill the reservoir, most of us do not remove the mask, and we generally don’t wash the face (since that would involve removing the mask).

1. Fill reservoir.
2. Attach hose to machine and make sure it’s ready to be operated.
3. Wash and thoroughly dry face.
4. Apply any cream or lotion that you use at night.
5. Sit up in bed.
6. Put on the chin strap (if applicable).
7. Secure the mask to your face in the ready to use position.
8. Attach the hose to the mask.
9. Power on the machine (unless this happens automatically).
10. Lie down.
