s10 and Oscar
s10 and Oscar
Getting a new s10. My therapy has been optimized on the s9 autoset and will use the same settings on the new s10 autoset. Have not used sleepyhead in a couple years and understand Oscar is the replacement. No need to migrate old data. Any advantage of using Oscar over the Resmed MyAir app when therapy has been dialed in with <1 AHI on a consistent basis? thanks!

Yes. Not only does MyAir lack detail for therapeutic analysis it has poor historic data. Although your dialed-in there might be the occasional instance where your night is off and you want to see why. There is also the potential for your results to drift and the historical detail could be important to re-dial-in your therapy.MyIdaho1 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2019 12:23 pmGetting a new s10. MyAir is nothing more than a poor attempt at motivation, which you are well past the need for.
Take advantage of the convenance of MyAir on your mobile for a quick look at your numbers. But install OSCAR, upload your data occasionally. And the detail and historical information will always be available to you.

Re: s10 and Oscar
Thanks for the quick and thorough reply, Dog Slobber! I have not received the S10 yet so have a silly question... Does the s10 use SD cards like the S9 or will it send data to the computer over wifi? If it needs an SD reader, I'll have to buy one as my computer does not have one. Thanks!
Re: s10 and Oscar
The AirSense/AirCurve 10 model lines all use a SD card like the S9 model machines used.
There is no ability to use wifi to send the data to your computer unless you use a very special wifi kind of SD card.
The AirSense/AirCurve model lines do use a cellular connection to send the data to the ResMed cloud where you can see the data using the MyAir App but there is no way to utilize that cellular connection and make it send to your home computer.
Since you probably won't be looking at your data on the computer all that often I don't think I would spend the extra money for a wifi SD card (they are a bit pricey) and setting it up is a bunch of extra work.
I think I would just get a card reader/adapter so that I could use the software on the computer (since your computer doesn't have a SD card slot) when I wanted to look but given your history of long term use and apparently doing well....probably no rush to set it up.
Your choice. MyAir might be sufficient for your needs unless you run into trouble. I download about once a month and don't even mess with MyAir at all. I can see all I need to see on the machine LCD screen but I do have the software available just in case I want to look at things in more detail.

Myair is fine if you just want a different way to look at what's on the machine's display... but it's useless if there's anything that ends up needing improvement.MyIdaho1 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2019 12:23 pmGetting a new s10. Thanks Pugsy and Pale rider! You provide good advice as always! I will get SD card reader to occasionally review the data. Will be kinda fun to try out the new software!

The dev team for Oscar is like a breath of fresh air, it's a number of people who *genuinely* want to help you, the end user, and want to make the program easier to use, easier to understand, and just better, not just throw in things one person is interested in to stoke his own ego.
I'm very impressed by what they're doing, and the improvements in the program that are coming, both near and longer term.

The communication and feedback in the pinned OSCAR topic is amazing. BlueDragon has responded to more bugs and suggestions more times in the last 6 months than years of SleepyHead.palerider wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2019 11:01 pmThe dev team for Oscar is like a breath of fresh air, it's a number of people who *genuinely* want to help you, the end user, and want to make the program easier to use, easier to understand, and just better, not just throw in things one person is interested in to stoke his own ego.
