I use a pillow mask and have recently been scoring 24 Ml leaks per night according to the resmed app. Also feeling a bit more tired than usual.
But, I have .7 apneas per hour.
Is a leaky mask a problem even when the machine records apneas within range?
I’m feeling the small pillow to be too small and the medium pillow to be slightly too large. Will try tightening head gear with the medium.
Is a leaky mask really a problem?
Re: Is a leaky mask really a problem?
Don't overtighten - can cause other problems, better to get a 'liner' from Padacheek.com and let it fill in the micro-gaps. Also, please post Oscar results here so experts can see what's going on - you can download it from Announcements at top of 1st pg.
Re: Is a leaky mask really a problem?
The leak number shown on the face of the machine or the MyAir app is called a 95% number.
The definition of a 95% number is NOT an overall average.
95% numbers are just where the leak was at OR BELOW for 95% if the night.
24 L/m also happens to be ResMed's line in the sand for large leak territory.
Without using available software to see just how much time might have been spent over 24 (and we know it is only 5% of the night and we don't know how far into large leak territory) we can't really determined much about things except for 95% of the night the leaks weren't so bad that the machine couldn't work properly.
So for the majority of the night the leaks were within the range where the machine can compensate adequately.
As long as the leaks don't disturb sleep then I wouldn't worry about them.
Now if any leak, no matter how big or little it is, causes wake ups....that's a different story.
The leaks may or may not be a factor in your increased fatigue. Are you waking often during the night?
Are you using available software to see the details or just using the limited summary numbers from the MyAir app or the machine's LCD screen.
