HELP.chinstrap flow limit graph
HELP.chinstrap flow limit graph
Can anyone comment on the following from my CPAP therapy. I have been on CPAP for nearly 12 months with mostly positive results. AHI under one most nights and daytime sleepiness much improved. However, i have found that if I wear a chin strap with a FFM that I have even less apneas and the flow limit and respiratory rate graphs look much cleaner and less erratic. Does anyone have any theories as to why this maybe?. I have been diagnosed with nasal polyps and a slightly deviated septum but have not undergone any treatment for these. I will post the sleepyhead graphs showing with and without chinstrap.

Any thoughts?

Re: HELP.chinstrap flow limit graph
My guess would be that using the chin strap stabilizes the airway a bit somehow. Head and neck don't get in quite as much of a position that might cramp the airway diameter.

With that low of AHi, why do you care what the graphs look like...(Unless you are not sleeping well).
I underwent surgery to remove polyps and correct deviated septum about 5 years ago...Made no difference in my OSA.

Re: HELP.chinstrap flow limit graph
it's true that the AHI is excellent, but i believe that a low number is only one component in good quality sleep.

What up with patches of fast breathing in the chin strap graph ?

Re: HELP.chinstrap flow limit graph
If you are talking about the statistics showing RR max of 50....I am not sure and I would need to see the flow rate zoomed in but I think the machine was double counting the respiration rate due to the cardiac echo effect thing.. Fairly common really.
Wouldn't be surprised to see it in the other graph showing mas RR of 37.
