Not sure how this happened...

Post by cpapjack » Tue Dec 05, 2006 12:20 pm

.....but my AHI last night was .8. This is a first. My AHI is usually right around 2.1. I haven't changed a thing with my setup in anyway whatsoever. I hope this keeps up.

Just thought I'd share this with everyone.

WooHoo! WTG, Jack!

Sometimes stuff just happens! Maybe you're relaxing enough to let your XPAP do its thing? Maybe it was the full moon! LOL

Anywho, great news!

Just breath the same way tonight.

Super and hope it goes down further.

Nice number ... congrats!

Is it colder or drier in your bedroom than usual? Loose some wieght recently? Change in dinner menu? Going to sleep earlier or later than normal?

Keep it up and you will be a real zero

Thanks Kajun. I agree that stuff just happens sometimes. That's what I'm chalking this up to be. I did have off work by myself(i say that because the last few times I had off work, my wife had off too) yesterday so maybe that did allow me to relax more.

LOL. I'm certainly gonna try.

Thanks Roberto.

Temp is the same. No weight loss, if anything, I've been gained a few pounds these past few months. Went to bed around 10:30, the same as always. Had Chinese for dinner. The first time since being on xPAP. Hmm, maybe it was the extremely hot sauce that I had with my General Tso's chicken.....

That's probably what it was......
Either that or you're finally getting the hang of this therapy.

That's always the $64 question......"How did I DO that?"
Trying to duplicate some specific night's sleep is hard to do.
I DO believe food has something to do with it.
But, good luck and I hope you have MANY more of them.

Occasionally I have a night where the AHI numbers and/or pressures (have APAP) are unusually low. Haven't been able to trace why the numbers change on these nights yet. I can't say I feel super better the day after these nights, but something kept numbers low the previous night. Leak rates were about the usual. I do hope the low #s keep up for you. Would like to know if this happens to be a one night affair or keeps up.

That was my attempt at tongue in cheek humor.

Could be. I forgot to mention in my original post that this is very ironic. I contemplated sleeping without my APAP last night because I was super stuffy , which hardly ever happens, and I don't have a FF Mask currently. But I didn't and look what happened. Yeah.

Maybe I'll try what curtcurt46 suggested, try breathing the same tonight.

Jack,

That was MY attempt at tongue-in-cheek humor, too.

Actually, in 2005, I had a lot of colds/flu and whatever was going around.....and I noticed that I had lower numbers during those times, too. I presumed it had a certain affect on my breathing.
It could account for why my overall average is a little higher this year.....I ain't been sick for over a year (Thanksgiving week of '05). That's OK......I don't miss that a bit.

How to find this?

Post by dwbeagle » Wed Dec 06, 2006 7:35 am

Hi! I have been on a machine since June time frame. I also have a Resmed S8 w/humidifier. Still looking for a mask that doesn't leak (good one huh?) so not firm on the mask yet.

So from the original post it seems that .8 is goodness. Is that what I should be looking for and if so how do I find it on this machine?

dwbeagle,

As far as AHI goes, anything under 5.0 is good. It's not neccessarily how low your number is, but how you feel. I know there are people with an AHI above 5, and they feel great. On the other hand, there people wh don't feel good unless their AHI is under 5. That's me. In fact, I've noticed that if my AHI goes above 2, I feel good, but I find myself dozing off during the day while I'm at work. If it's under 2, I don't do that. I can make it through the day without dozing off or wanting a nap.

Once you find a mask that works for you, you'll be able to focus on other areas that may need tweaking. One thing at a time. Good luck and keep us updated with your progress.

I knew it was too good to be true. My AHI last night was back up to the usual 2.1. Oh well.

Apparently you weren't "breathing the same" as the night before.
(and probably no hot sauce, either)

Hang in there, Jack!

Geese, I really thought I was.

No hot sauce either, but come to think of it, I could've had some with dinner last night. (homemade burritos)
