A lot of sweating, 55 male, have to change shirts
A lot of sweating, 55 male, have to change shirts
I use Air sense 10. Wake up some nights with soaked shirt.
I think I am taking quick shorts breaths when this happens. My low pressure is at 9. High is 15.
Any suggestions?

See your doctor.
Night sweats are not normal unless you are undergoing menopause.

Re: A lot of sweating, 55 male, have to change shirts
Pulmonologist checked my usage data and suggested using the humidifier. I never tried it . Used a bi-pap for 10 years before this air sense and never had this problem. I survived pneumococcal meningitis first week of January. Was in icu
Intubated for 4 days. Dr knows about this , never had
This problem before the meningitis either.
By the way, dr said I could have gotten the meningitis
From bacteria in mask. Keep your masks clean.

Please fill in your profile so we have something to go on.
Which model of AirSense 10? There are a number of them. Some are data-capable and some aren't.
By "low pressure is at 9", do you mean that's where your Ramp pressure starts or is it the minimum pressure if your machine is an APAP?
By "High is 15", do you mean that's where your fixed pressure stays all night or is it the maximum pressure if your machine is an APAP?
Are you monitoring your therapy with software......like Sleepyhead or OSCAR? If not, get one and study your nightly data.
As previously mentioned, your symptoms indicate UNTREATED sleep apnea.

Re: A lot of sweating, 55 male, have to change shirts
Highly unlikely that you contracted your infection from your CPAP mask. (unless you're sharing it with others who have the infection)
From:
https://www.healthline.com/health/menin ... ansmission
"How Is Pneumococcal Meningitis Transmitted?
Pneumococcal meningitis is transmitted from one person to another. The bacteria are spread through direct contact with the tiny droplets from an infected person’s mouth, throat, or nose. For example, if someone with the infection coughs or sneezes on or near you, you may contract the disease.
You can also contract the disease from an infected person by kissing or by sharing anything that comes into contact with the mouth such as:
a cup
a fork
a straw
a lipstick
a cigarette
Up to 40 percent of the population may carry Streptococcus pneumonia. In most of these people, the bacteria are dormant, which means they’re not actively growing and replicating. However, the bacteria can be transmitted even when it’s dormant.
Living in places where large groups of people tend to live, such as dormitories, can increase your risk for infection."

Sounds like your Doctor is a moron, I'd suggest getting SEVERAL 'second opinions' in THAT point.

My point is that poorly treated sleep apnea can cause night sweats... I used to suffer from them myself, till I got to be properly treated.

O,T thread hyjack, 1 AM epiphany
"At night I wake up with the sheets soaking wet
And a freight train running through the middle of my head"
It is amazing what my brain can think of when it is not wasting time thinking about breathing! And yes post bypass and pre diagnosis and cpap I use to wake up with At night I wake up with the sheets soaking wet And a freight train running through the middle of my head.

Last night when I woke up for my usual 1 AM walk about I had an epiphany! Do you think that Bruce Springsteen had untreated sleep apnea when he wrote:palerider wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2019 8:27 pmWell, they ARE a symptom of untreated obstructive sleep apnea.chunkyfrog wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2019 8:21 pmSee your doctor.

I had not associated my night sweats to my OSA, but man was I happy that they went away once I began treating my OSA.

This was a pretty much worthless action. You already know whether you are using the machine faithfully.
Efficacy data is what needs to be checked. Do you know how to use the clinicians menu on the machine's display to do this?
