nose plugs

Post by kidknits » Fri Dec 01, 2006 5:35 pm

I had a miserable time with the oracle.... did try a new nose clip that swimmers use, which really seemed to pinch... anyway, try the Speedo nose clip- I got mine at Big 5. Any sporting good store should have them....

Well it was a rough night but not because of the oracle, it never leaked all night. The problem was I couldn't keep the nose plugs from leaking even when I taped them so they would quit popping out. I had rainout bad and very dry mouth. I quess I am going to have to buy a heated hose. I bought some nose clips today but selection was thin so I will see how they do tonight and if they don't work out I found some nice adjustable clips on the web that I can order. Once I get the nose leaks sealed that should also help the dry mouth. The mask itself doesn't bother me and doesn't leak so I think when I work the bugs out I think it will work fine for me. Does anyone else make a heated hose besides the aussie?

I have been using the Oracle for about a year now and love it. I use the nose plugs and have never taped them. I do try to seat them by blowing through your nose with short puffs, they tend to expand and then catch when I do that. I run @ 11 hope that helps.

Well I have to order the aussie, the rainout was bad again last night.
The only two noseclips I could find around here were to small for me and the large plugs are to small for big snout. I will go to wally world and come up with something that will plug or clip my nose.
Can someone send me the link to order the Aussie, I want to make sure I order it from the right people.

Try http://www.sleepzone.com.au I believe that's the site. It now comes with the adapter needed in the US and they don't charge shipping. I just ordered one and I bellieve it cost me $119

Well my trip to wally world didn't turn up much, no nose clips in stock. I bought some foam ear plugs but they were to small, cloths pins are way to tight, I couldn't adjust the springs on bag clips without them falling apart.
I am open to suggestions on how to close the flow on my nose until I can find an adult pair of nose clips.

well it looks as if I might have to wait for the heated hose until I get back to work so in the meantime I lowered the CPAP to about a foot below my head level and I was thinking about trying some water pipe insulation on the hose and see how that works. I did make a nose clip out of a large paperclip, padding, and medical tape. I will test it out tonight and see how it goes.

I went to my ENT today over a pain in my nose from surgery that should have gone away by now, this is my third visit over this pain. I kept telling him that if I bend my nose a stitch will pop out and if I try to wear a nasal mask it is very painful. I decided I would not leave this time until he finds and fixes it, well he finally found it and very roughly and painfully removed it. I can now plug and clip my nose without the sharp poking pain but unfortunately I haven't been able to get my nose plugged or clipped without leaking. I told my ENT about my problems and his exact words was "use your swift and leave your mouth alone, if it leaks it will not effect the treatment" I didn't argue with him and just asked if he had anything to plug my nose that would not leak and he said he could make a molded set of plugs for my nose but that I would be better of not using the oracle and use the swift with my mouth open. This is the man who wants to take over my CPAP treatment. If the insurance will pay for the plugs I am going to have him make them.

UGGHHHHH!! Try to "play nice" until you get your nose plugs from him. Then after that LET HIM HAVE IT and find a new MD to follow you. If you feel that the Oracle is helping you more than the Swift-stick it out-he's not the one strapping on the mask every night. Sorry about the ranting;but people who call themselves medical professionals and are that small minded just IRK me to no end. Ahhhh,I really do feel better now
