first OSCAR report.. any insights on how to bring this to zero

Post by danis » Tue May 14, 2019 6:40 pm

So last night was my sixth night on CPAP, but I have had the SD card for only last two nights. Here are the charts from last night, showing 1.3 events per hour. Any insights on how to bring this to zero? Or any other issues you experienced guys notice here that I need to fix?

Please review the examples in this thread.

You have included some stuff not needed and omitted some needed stuff.
Hide the calendar and turn off the pie chart.

An AHI of 0.0 is an unrealistic goal. We can get false positive flagged events for one thing when awake breathing confuses the machine.
We can't always prevent every single apnea event from happening for another thing. Clear Airway/central apneas we can't do anything about with this kind of machine anyway. Nothing to tweak that will stop them.

Your AHI is very good, especially for a week or so on CPAP.

Once you get accustomed to it, I think you can expect lower numbers.

Expecting to consistently achieve 0.0, not realistic.

Took me about a year to throw my first no-hitter. Since then I've had 9 more, about 3 a month. Nice to get, but don't expect them.

The idea is to sleep well with a low AHI...You will drive yourself nuts trying for consistent zeros. I have been on CPAP for 11 years and have been below 1 about a dozen times. I'm happy with below 2.

Trying for zeroes every night is unrealistic. However, if you want to try more minimum pressure, it might clear up a couple of the events. If you are curious, try a minimum pressure of 10 or 12 and see how it goes. It looks like your pressure is staying around 10 most of the night.

You’re off to a great start! Your AHIs are good, you have very few leaks, you’re using your machine all night, and your’re using Oscar.

Do you want to add some information about how you’re feeling, e.g., things that might be waking you up at night? The extent to which you feel rested during the day?
Oscar software is available at https://www.sleepfiles.com/OSCAR/
