I called the SoClean company and was told the lack of ozone odor was like losing the new car smell. This made absolutely no sense since I was using the ResMed unit every day for a long period of time. It seemed to me that the ozone generator was not functioning. I would appreciate hearing from anyone with a similar experience or who understands what happened, and what I can do about it. Many thanks...
Where did the ozone go?
Where did the ozone go?
I have been using a SoClean 2 with a ResMed Air Sense 10 set for APAP for about 18 months. I noted the presence of ozone (could smell it) when the cleaning unit was on and for a number of hours after that. Right before going to bed I ran the ResMed for 30 seconds or so to clear the ozone odor. Well, about 2 weeks ago I could no longer detect (smell) any ozone from the SoClean or the tubing leading to the mask (F & P Brevida). The machine ran at it's scheduled cleaning time.

Re: Where did the ozone go?
I call it the "pool smell" lol in the materials I received with my machine it stated that the smell would go away with time and that as long as you used odor free, dye free detergents for spot cleaning it shouldn't come back. I've been using my soclean for 3 weeks now and I still get the smell but it could be because my face gets oily and I clean my mask with a lavender scented baby shampoo for now till I run out.

Re: Where did the ozone go?
If you're smelling ozone after using that SoClean, you're breathing in some level of O3, otherwise known as Trioxygen - or Ozone.
I'm not telling you to not use your machine, do as you wish, but I would submit that: Ozone is a powerful oxidant and has many industrial and consumer applications related to oxidation. This same high oxidising potential, however, causes ozone to damage mucous and respiratory tissues in animals, and also tissues in plants, above concentrations of about 0.1 ppm. That's a pretty low threshold for damage.
Read what the EPA has to say about home Ozone air purifiers:
https://www.epa.gov/indoor-air-quality- ... r-cleaners
Again, not knocking anyone for using whatever they want, just want to make sure that the information is readily available.

Re: Where did the ozone go?
I usually read the comments here on the weekends. When I started CPAP a while back, I got alot out of this site. I've never registered or joined. Never commented. Sometimes the arguments on this site are a bit like Jerry Springer but that can be both entertaining and informative. I read everything, but almost never have commented to anything online. Same with product reviews. I read them, rely on them, but never write one! That's just me. But I did I follow the SoClean discussions with interest because I purchased one, found I started getting migraines, stopped using, and they went away. Didn't really think about it. Did not make a connection. I saw an ad for this website pop up, which might be interesting: https://www.badozonecleaner.com/. I can't say my migraines came from that, but the ozone smell was pretty strong coming out of that machine. I stopped using mine and eventually threw it away. Could not make the connection directly. I just felt ill whenever I smelled the ozone and that worried me. Read up on ozone and glad I threw the machine away. The lawyer's website is interesting because it talks about how all of the ozone devices are hiding behind calling it "activated oxygen" to hide the fact that its ozone. If you believe in your product you would not hide behind a lie. If someone is using it, likes it power to you. I won't use it. cpap.com carries a different, non-ozone, machine. Maybe they know something we don't and have a reason for not carrying it?

Did u lose your sense of smell on everything or just the ozone?
