Itching Driving me Nuts

Post by RomanDelta » Mon Apr 01, 2019 8:59 am

Ok, there has to be a solution to this. Right now I am waking up about 5 times a night, but not from apnea, from itching. At some point you have to wonder whats better? I'm being woken up either way right? Yes, I suppose 5 times a night is better than 7 times an hour, but man it is irritating.

I have a pretty severely deviated septum and allergy problems, so I wear a breathe right strip and one of those plastic winged nose openers under the mask after sanitizing my nose and surrounding area with non-alcoholic hand sanitizer, and that helps, but doesn't cure it.

I've tried both FFM and Full nose mask. Cannot use the pillow style mask because I have no cartilage in my nose and it is painful.

Anything I can do or does this just kind of come with the territory?

For CPAP, although your nose may feel like it is itching on the outside, the issue many times is long hair in your nostrils. Trimming that can make a huge difference. Perhaps that will help.

Oooooo good suggestion. I will try that.

So even though the nose hairs are the culprit, it can still manifest as a sensation that is relieved by stratching the outside of your nose?

Here’s another thing to try: scratch your nose really good before you put on your mask. It may help attenuate the itching.

Also, could the hand sanitized you are using cause the itching????

Another good possibility.
