Help with mask choose

Post by exclusive » Mon Mar 18, 2019 7:08 am

Hello All,

I am new to CPAP, and found a lot of useful information on this forum.
Recently I've bought Philips Respironics System One REMstar Auto A-Flex CPAP (model 560p) with Heated tube (here is what I bought: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Philips-Respir ... 4152370558)
And now I need to find a compatible mask (full face). I read a lot of good comments regarding Resmed Airfit F20 full face, but I am not sure if it compatible with my device?
Can you please to help me will this mask fit my PR 560p?
Thanks!

Virtually all masks are compatible with all systems.

The exception, masks designed fo the portable ResMed AirMini. Don't worry about those.

Thanks for reply.
Probably I will look for AirTouch F20 to start use CPAP.
One more question: what is the difference between these two masks:
1. Resmed AirTouch F20 For Her Full Face CPAP Mask Pack with Headgear

2. ResMed AirTouch F20 Full face mask with Headgear

It seems both have size S/M, but second also has 'L' size.
Are there any other differences?

Im pretty new to CPAP too. A mask is all about fit. My local place does loaners and allows exchanges and I went through several to find what I liked. I did end up with a F20 AirFit and like it. I believe the for her may have small headgear. Other than that I am assuming the same. There’s also AirTouch versus AirFit which is foam versus silicone around the cushion. Personally, I didn’t like the foam. The frames are the same, so you can get both cushions to try though. I also have a F30, which sits under the nose instead of over it. It’s a nice mask too if it works for you. I switch between the two when my face needs a change but use the F20 more right now. If you wear glasses though and want to have them on ever with your mask the F30 allows that.

A lot of times the only difference sometimes between the "for Her" and the regular masks is simply color of something.
Sometimes it's what is offered in a mack package if more than one cushion or nasal pillow is included.
Typically the frames and cushions though are unisex sized. A small cushion/frame in the for Her packaging will be the same small cushion in the regular packaging.

With the AirTouch F20 there appears to be the pink vs blue color difference and from the pictures the headgear may be 2 different shades of gray. This could just be the photo doing the 2 shades of gray on the headgear. I have never actually seen these 2 masks side by side to compare but a Small headgear is going to be the same size headgear no matter what color it is...a medium headgear is going to be the same size no matter what color. Frames are the same way...

A lot of times the for Her packaging might come with the smaller choices...and a regular packaging might include the larger choices.
It's assumed that women might be more in need of the smaller but obviously that isn't always the case as some men might also have smaller heads and some women can have quite large heads.

But a Medium headgear is going to be the same size no matter which color it is.
A Medium cushion/frame is going to be the same size no matter which color it is.

At the dme yesterday with the N-20 they had packages that were labeled small and standard in the "for her" headgear. The standard "for her" was smaller than the regular N-20 headgear that I have. (Big caveat. I don't know what size headgear was included with the first N-20 you sent me. It may not have been standard)

The tech also grabbed headgear for F-20 but those bottom straps were too long for the N-20. I think they may be sized similarly. other than the longer straps it looked and felt the same.

Personally, I'm really happy with my Fisher & Paykel Simplus FFM. It's comfortable, and easy to clean and adjust.

Thanks to everybody.
As I understood, Airtouch F20 can be considered as 'universal' mask to fit most of face types ;) That's thanks to memory foam. One concern I see is only it's price around $140.
Are there any cheaper alternatives?

Prices are all over the place on masks. Shop around.

I've heard Cpap.com has insurance you can get so you send a mask back and get another one if it doesn't work for you.
