Old vs new machines

Post by Wigsplitter » Mon Mar 04, 2019 12:17 pm

Recently have been diagnosed with sleep apnea, but before I officially was , I had thought I might have had some sort of apnea problem.

I bought myself a resmed s9 elite, and it works okay.
My question is, my doctor recommends I get all new machines, etc.

Do they new machines produce better results?

Depends on which model newer machine they want you to get.

The algorithms between the S9 and the AirSense 10 machines didn't change though.

Now there are some additional features and a couple data points offered in the newer model that the S9 doesn't have...but how it goes about blowing air....they didn't change that.

What machine are they recommending that you get?

*auto* machines, like an autoset, can produce better results, and be easier to get set to the right pressures.

I used an elite for some time, and got good results, but you have to monitor it more closely, should your needs change, it can't adjust to take care of you.

I am not sure which one, but it is an auto set resmed. Newest one out .

An autoset would give better treatment, probably. LSAT has one for sale.

AirSense 10 AutoSet....better than the S9 Elite but mainly because it has the auto adjusting mode and cpap fixed mode..
and your Elite only has the one fixed cpap mode.
The AirSense 10 also offers a couple of extra data point flags.

My suggestion is let your insurance get you the AirSense 10 AutoSet and keep the S9 Elite for back up or use as a travel machine.
