Smoky Machine
Smoky Machine
I bought a used Respironics machine on line. It came from a smoky environment and smells of tobacco smoke. Is there any way to clean this machine? Yea, I know, I should have asked, but ...
Re: Smoky Machine
Not really. Eventually the smell will fade.

Re: Smoky Machine
You could put a few drops of essential oil in a scent you like on a cotton ball and place it behind the air intake on your machine. It will take a while for the machine to smell more like the scent than the smoke, but at least there will be some camouflage in the meantime.

Re: Smoky Machine
Change the filter and run the machine outside or near an open window...It may take several hours for several days.

Re: Smoky Machine
There is a product the car detailers use on smokers' cars. I'll ask Gramps if he knows the brand name.kteague wrote: ↑Wed Jan 30, 2019 12:49 pmYou could put a few drops of essential oil in a scent you like on a cotton ball and place it behind the air intake on your machine. Re: Smoky Machine
Married to a smoker for 30+ years. I agree with Lsat fresh air from outside and maybe add some indirect sun. There is no product that actually gets the smell out and most smell worse than the smoke, at least to me, YMMV.

Re: Smoky Machine
Good news/Bad news - Do not use OZIUM in your machine, It does not neutralize tobacco odor, it only covers it up with a perfume causing it to stink even more.
But I did figure out how to clean the machine completely free of all odors, and to sanitize ittoo.
