Hi everyone
My name is Tim I'm a 37 yo male 6'3 and 80kg so probably underweight for my height. I have been told I have severe sleep Apnea and had a sleep study and trial with CPAP machine which I have just returned and got my own
I have been reading your forums during this time and when I have got frustrated with the process the information has been really helpful, Reminding me that many people have been through this before-and I can too
I have just got my first machine from a friend of the family it's a Philips respironics remstar pro c-flex + with humidifier
I have the Fischer and Paykel brevida nasal pillow
I came back to using this nasal pillow mask after I experienced significant different side effects with the full face masks that I tried. Once I tried the nasal pillows I was much more comfortable but found myself breathing through my mouth or blowing air out through my mouth
I'm a mouth breather so I tape my mouth Shut with Micropore tape
Last night was my first night using my machine (a hand me down) which has been reset for me to start using
One thing I noticed when I went into the settings was that it did not record any data last night and I am unable to find out why this may be
I do have a beard and with other masks I have found that air leakage has sometimes meant it hasn't recorded my therapy times but with the nasal pillow this should not have been issue last night as my beard does not obstruct The Mask sealing on my face
Any ideas?
Your support and guidance is much appreciated

Re: New user intro
What is the model number for the machine ...it's on a sticker on the bottom of the blower unit.
There are several variations in models using the term Respironics Remstar Pro...

Re: New user intro
The Remstar part is useless...Respironics has used that term on every single model they ever made until they made the recent change to the DreamStation model line.
The model 451 means it is a PR System One 50 Series Pro CPAP machine and the CFLex + part just denotes its exhale relief.
When did you check the info menu area for usage hours...what time your time and where are you located?
Sometimes it doesn't get updated until after Noon GMT...so if you checked it prior to Noon GMT time..it wouldn't reflect anything on the LCD screen. The machine has an internal clock set to GMT time...and that's what dictates the Noon time frame..per GMT.
If you happened to get up early and check the machine and it wasn't yet noon GMT time...that might explain the lack of usage data.
The 450/451 model is compatible with SleepyHead...my suggestion is to get that software and look to see what it shows.
The data available on the LCD screen is extremely limited anyway...there's a lot more available that you need the software to see.

While you are over on the apneaboard go get the clinical manual if you don't have it already
https://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap- ... tup-manual
Make sure that you have the setting "Show AHI" to the ON selection to see the limited data available on the LCD screen.
Finally...sometimes with those older machine like the 451 (it was first released in early 2010) the part of the machine that writes the data to the internal storage has been known to fail. If you check for usage now...and you have "Show AHI" set to On...and you still can't see any usage at all or data from last night...that might be what is going on here.
If it doesn't have a SD card in the slot...any generic SD card will work. No need to go trying to find a Respironics SD card.
I got one at WalMart when I lost my card.

Re: New user intro
Hi I managed to get the clinical manual emailed to me and I now have a working copy of sleepyhead!
My machine did write to the SD card and I have managed to view the past two nights data on sleepyhead which is great
I have an AHI 8.16 on Wed and 6.93 thurs
I'm learning about other parameters as I go
Thank you so much for the tips Pugsy, it's a little overwhelming but also empowering to learn and take control...so the info in these forums is invaluable
Is there any way to post images in forums like screenshots of sleepyhead?
