CPAP data

Post by CdrRayJ » Tue Feb 26, 2019 12:02 pm

My Airsence machine measures total events per hour, AHI, total AI and Central AI. I don’t understand the difference between, total events per hour and AHI (# of apnea’s or hypopneas per hour). And total AI which is lower than AHI.

AHI Apnea/Hyponea Index is composed of 3 categories...

Apnea index...which has 2 categories....central apnea and obstructive apnea
Hyponea index.
so 3 categories total.

add all 3 together and you get AHI...you are probably not factoring in the hyponea index which is kinda not well shown and you arrive to that number by subtracting the AI from the AHI.

Example....AHI of 2.8
AI of 2.2 (and that is composed of 1.1 Central and 1.1 Obstructive)
so that leaves 0.6 which is the hyponea index
2.8 minus the 2.2 equals 0.6

If you were to use the software available you could easily see the 3 categories but when just looking at the LCD screen you only see AI and AHI.

Thanks. That helps. What additional things are measured in “events per hour”.
BTW appreciate your quick response.
