Dreamstation PRO FLEX +

Post by nonetheless » Wed Feb 20, 2019 2:00 pm

Hi all. It has come to my attention that there is a FLEX + option on my machine. I presently have my Dreamstation PRO CPAP machine on FLEX 3 (least resistance on exhalation). I have been informed that the FLEX + option gives even further comfort or smoother transition between inhaling and exhaling. It is briefly covered in the PHILIPS user manual but seeking clarification.

Welcome to the forum.

It's hard to explain in words but let me try.
Respironics Flex exhale relief will reduce the pressure (up to 2 cm) depending on how forcefully you actually breathing.
It's as much a timing when the reduction upon exhale starts as it is the actual reduction that offers the comfort.

What I usually tell people when they ask about Flex...just try it...try all the settings including off and use whatever feels like it matches their own respiration timing and pattern the best no matter what the number.

Please note...you have to be using at least 6 cm for Flex to engage so that you can feel the change....if you are using less than 6 cm it doesn't matter what the Flex setting is...it won't engage and you can't compare how it feels.
