Just a reminder that Resmed anything can't be ordered from a dealer in the US as Resmed doesn't allow it, though whether or not that applies to secondwindcpap or other private sales is another story. Certainly DMEs in Canada order them, but we end up paying a really high price.

Nope.

I wrote that for the new original poster to explain why some of those charges were bogus.

It maybe true that Resmed and Respironics from what I've read restricts the export of machines to Canada from the U.S.. Having said that it may be possible that a brick and mortar store may sell it to you even if they know you are a Canadian and have a prescription. The issue at this point is using it in Canada where the WiFi is concerned being that it transmits to Resmed. I have a Resmed from Canada and went to Las Vegas last week and the WiFi was no issue.

Bringing a purchased CPAP machine in the U.S. as we did last week is not that difficult for personal use (as a traveller). Health Canada makes it clear that there is no requirement for documentation or license for personal use. No taxes would be collected on it as it is also classified as a Type 2 medical device and stated very cleary by Canada Revenue Agency that it's exempt from taxes.

We have our own CPAP machines that were covered by Manitoba Health and private insurance, the machines we imported were APEX XT and APEX ICH strictly for traveing.

Unless you have added a different SD card, CPAP machines do NOT use Wi-Fi.
Most machines today use a cellular network. Canada has different carriers than the US. Some carriers have roaming agreements but if you regularly used a US machine in Canada with the wireless turned on, you might get an angry call from ResMed.

I think some travel machines just use Bluetooth to your cell phone.

I should correct myself, not WiFi but cellular with the Resmed. The cellular will ping no doubt but what about a U.S. citizen on a work permit in Canada for 3 years for example? I doubt Resmed will go after the user but likely the seller (store/distributor) if they do at all.

You still have the option of turning off the radio & using the SD Card for data too.

Redumbdant, it'd already been covered well, by someone with actual experience.
