I hand wash my headgear with dawn scent-free detergent and about a half cup of vinegar, same as what I use to wash my hoses and humidifier. I let it soak for awhile. I lay the headgear flat to air-dry on a washcloth till night, then throw it into the dryer to finish the drying and shrinking. Smells fresh, too.

Headgear and microfleece strap liners in laundry bag in washer with sensitive-skin Persil (enzymes help clean). Then hang 'em up to air dry. I was soaking and then washing with Dawn but I'd forget and then had wet headgear making me use an older set that caused leaks. Now I kept a clean set of strap liners and headgear in a baggie.

I ended up running them through the washing machine with the clothes a few times, then the dryer on high heat. Good as new :)
