Sleepyhead AHI question

Post by Woody » Sat Feb 09, 2019 8:22 am

When I look at the AHI displayed on my dream station auto screen I get a figure that is always
a lot higher than when I look at the data using sleepyhead. For example last night my machine
reported my AHI was 4.5 but when I pulled the SD card sleepyhead reports my AHI was only .9
Could the fact I have some large leaks cause this huge difference in the AHI readings ?

Did you by chance have more than one sleep session last night? Turn the machine off and back on at some time?
If you did...the display is showing the most recent session only and not the entire night.
SleepyHead will be correct and match with Encore as long as you aren't using a half assed brick machine.

Leaks had nothing to do with the discrepancy.

I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.

I had a 30 min. nap earlier in the day then slept for about 6 hrs. Oh well
Wednesday my sleep DR. will look at my card and I will find out what
his software shows.

Respironics machines use an internal clock that starts a new reporting session at 12 noon GMT and you may have inadvertently seen just the results of the new reporting session break for some reason.
It all depends on when you slept in relation to GMT time.

My son has a dreamstation, like with you his Sleepyhead AHI is often lower than the AHI displayed on the dreamstation. My guess is the same as yours, maybe leaks are the reason. Here is an example of one such night. The total number of events match up but the dreamstation showed an AHI of 8.7 usage time 6:38 SH showed AHI 6.47 usage time of 8:48. My guess is the machine is flagging breathing not detected because of a large leak and excluding that time period from it's AHI calculations while sleepyhead is including time in leak in it's AHI calculation.

I recently purchased a Dreamstation APAP and this is what I have noticed in the AHI differences between the Dreamstation Station Display, Dreammapper, and SleepyHead.

This were my AHIs for yesterday.

DreamStation .7
Dreammapper .8
SleepyHead .75

I think the Dreamstation display is truncating the AHI to the hundreds. While the Dreammaper app rounds the number up and the Sleepy Head software calculates the actual AHI for the night.

I just got back from my appointment with my sleep Dr. And acording
to his software my 30 day AHI is 6 BUT according to Sleepyhead it's 4.98
But here things get interesting. Sleepyhead reports that last night my
AHI was 2.i8 , the 7 day average was 2.18 and the 30 day was 4.94 .
But the built in display on my Dreamstation Auto reports that last night
it was 5 , the 7 day average was 5.7 and the 30 day average was 8.5 .
Well it's no big deal and I won't lose any sleep over it
