Medicare and Insurance Coverage Question

Post by deebkay » Fri Jan 25, 2019 11:49 am

Hello, Can I have medicare pay for the occasional CPAP mask from vendors other than my original DME without jeopardizing my medicare and supplemental insurance coverage? I just got my CPAP last June and have used it steadily but I believe it takes a year to pay off the machine - is that correct? I believe the DME is reporting back to my doctor and one of them is reporting to insurance? (I'm in NYS if that matters and on medicare and a BCBS supplement).

I have no real problems with my DME - they've been responsive enough although I've had to push back a few times. But they don't carry all the masks I'd like to try. Like many of you, I'm struggling to find the right one. Thanks for any info!

If you have a Medicare supplement, you need to find our which DMEs in your area accept that insurance. To find this out, you need to talk to your insurance company. If you do not have a Medicare supplement, you can go to any DME that accepts Medicare.

Growing old is mandatory, but growing up is optional.

Thanks Palerider and Okiebipap. Thanks for the info. Actually I wanted to order online at cpap.com. I thought they accepted insurance but from taking to them I see they don't.
