Mouth leaks
Mouth leaks
After 2 years of near perfect use with full face masks and having learnt to breathe through my nose only, something which many on here said could come with time and I didn't believe would ever happen I made the switch last night to the dreamwear nasal and had virtually no leakage in 8 hours of use on dreammapper and sleepyhead, my question is, would mouth leakage show up in the data in just the same way as mask leakage would?

Re: Mouth leaks
It can take a more careful look at the data than just the pretty graphs. For example: when I wear a nasal pillows mask, my leak levels show as non-existent, yet I very frequently exhale through my mouth which others on this forum were able to detect when diving into my data.

Re: Mouth leaks
Leak is leak no matter where the source.
Yes...if you did much mouth breathing it would show up as leak.
Not necessarily large leak but leak...and if it isn't a really big leak..who cares.
See the report below. I circled the leak in a known awake time where I was for sure mouth breathing...I was awake and doing the mouth breathing on purpose. Mouth breathing doesn't always equal massive leaks.

Re: Mouth leaks
That's great. Thanks for info. Confirms what I thought. I am now an official nose breather. Never thought I could learn to do that but reading Pugsy and others convinced me to try and feels like a great achievement. Brings a whole new set of masks into my reach but quite happy with the dreamwear for now.

Know that I am completely jealous for you! I guess I sorta know how you feel. I spent years trying to find a full face mask I could wear. I was using the Philips Total Face mask and I dreamed of using a less intrusive full face. When the F20 arrived, I felt like a kid during Christmas! I have a fairly significant obstruction in one of my nasal passages, so a pillow mask is outta the question.
I consider myself a significant idiot here, but I still learn stuff from folks here. To be successful at treating sleep apnea is enough joy for me and I wish to help everyone to achieve the same success.

Anybody that can successfully walk someone else down the path to treatment like you did with your son, is no idiot.Sheriff Buford wrote: ↑Sat Jan 12, 2019 8:09 amI consider myself a significant idiot here, but I still learn stuff from folks here.
You may not know everything, none of us do, but you're certainly no idiot
