what is a "bi directional cpap"?

From what my doc explained it is a cpap that sends direct constant air then shuts down the air for a certain amount of time, its almost like a bipap i guess

What's the model or REF number off the label on your machine.

That's referred to as an "apap".

Also, what your doctor said is wrong, the DS Auto *can*, momentarily, slightly *reduce* the air pressure, during part of your exhale, but it doesn't come anywhere close to shutting it down.
