it’s time to upgrade my Respironics System One BiPAP Auto with either ResMed AirCurve or Respironics DreamStation. My procrastination brings me to December and the last few days of getting any possible help from insurance since my ginormous deductible has been met. Now I’m rushing to compare the best BiPAP versions of the two machines mentioned. I definitely need the humidifier too, preferably with a heated hose since my room is very cool at night in winter and condensation has been an issue in the past. I’m hoping to continue using the old Swift II pillows mask if it’s still compatible with new machine. I notice a lot of users on the AirCurve and wonder if it’s time for a manufacturer change. I want to continue using software to track my progress, but do not really want or need Bluetooth, though that may be built in regardless.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!

Re: Help please - Time to upgrade my BiPAP Auto
I switched from my BiPAP Auto to the Aircuve 10 Vauto with the climate line and humidifier 18 months ago, give or take, and the switch was easy. The Resmed seems to be superior technologically -- I don't know about longevity yet.
I no longer get any rainout which is awesome, and I went to the dreamwear under nose "mask" (not pillows) and that has been super awesome.
Good luck!

The AirCurve 10 VAuto is a superior machine, quieter, better data, more responsive, and more adjustable.

Re: Help please - Time to upgrade my BiPAP Auto
Hi Cascade. A bit off topic, but I am ready to get a new machine as well and also trying to get in before the end of the year as I have met my out of pocket max. This is my first time using insurance. I self-diagnosed 8 years ago and bough a System One Auto CPAP machine off the street not having insurance at the time. My new doctor said that I did great with my diagonsis (recording pulse oximeter) and treatment, thanks to the help received here. Anyway, does insurance buy you a new machine outright or do they rent them to you? My insurance (BC/BS) said depends on the machine, and a DME said if rented, they rent for 30 months then you keep the machine. If I have to rent I might as well just go back to the street since my $500 deductible kicks back in in January and over 30 months that would be two $500 deductables and that would mean I will be paying cash for it. I can get a DreamStation for much less than $500 used on the street. Maybe I can get the insurance to cover a mask though before the end of the year.
For those who have switched from a System One to a DreamStation, is the DreamStation really that much quieter and/or that much better? My new doctor said the new machines are so much more quiet. If my 8 year old System One is working fine do I really need a new machine? I'm thinking about trying a DreamWear mask this time although I am happy with the EasyLife Nasal.
Thanks
