2 yrs w/ Resmed S9 8h/nite great sleep --> since very 1st nite w/ R10, broken sleep

Dear fellow members, greetings to all

I didn't feel like bugging you before doing my home work, but:
- it's been over 3 months (since mid Aug./2018) since I no longer know what an 8 hours of sleep feels like;
- I have been using Sleepyhead (great sw. btw) to no avail, going into excruciatng details over the data without seeing the reason why I suddenly wake up (no apneia events at the time of arousal);
- I feel *really* lost and I have nowhere else to go, so would you please be so kind as to bear with me?

Thanks a lot in advance.

In the end of 2016 a MD told me to do a PSG, which let me know I had an AHI of 98. So it was only reasonable to try a CPAP/APAP.

I know my problem sounds absurd:
- for 2 years I was a very happy camper with a rental Resmed S9 auto, set to min. 12, EPR full time, set to 3, with a very old Meridian nasal mask;
- the very first night I used my brand new Resmed Airsense 10 autoset, with pretty much the same settings, I woke up in the middle of night, a couple of times;
- this went on for quite a while, and no sort of changes to the setup helped: band around my chin to keep mouth closed, full face expensive mask, every possible configuration in the Clinical menu etc.;
- I went back to my old faithful (Resmed S9 auto) but this time to no avail: still broken sleep, as if my circadian cycle was *really* messed up and not wanting to do an 8 hours stretch sleeping and resting.

My reports indicate no leakage. The AHI is low imho, less than 5.

You guys take care. Thanks a lot for reading my ramblings!

Anything else in your life change around the same time?
New meds? Stop old meds? Change dosage in current meds? Life stressors? Other health issues pop up?

The medical community may consider any AHI less than 5 as being treated, most of us here do not consider that as being adequately treated. My AHI for the past 5 1/2 months is 0.62 including the sleep/wake junk (SWJ). If I take out the SWJ, it is 0.30. My AHI is typical of many people here on the forum. Post a copy of your latest night sleepyhead and let people here help you tweek your settings. See this post for how to post your charts: viewtopic/t172378/Sticky--Newbies-PLEAS ... STING.html

Dear Cynmatthes, Pugsy and Okie bipap, thank you so much for taking the time to help me out! I do not know whether it is proper form to reply at once (instead of 3 replies in this case) but please be so kind as to let me know otherwise? Thanks a bunch.

As for
>>> Did you go back to your old mask too ?

Yes, I did. I just woke from a 4 hours sessions wearing it (is is 11:19 pm now), I was just too tired and had to sleep pretty much in the "afternoon" (7 mp ain't normal to start sleeping at...).

>>> Anything else in your life change around the same time? New meds? Stop old meds? Change dosage in current meds? Life stressors? Other health issues pop up?

I had been on Pregabalin 150 mg for 20 days when I started using the Resdemed 10 (up to that day, perhaps a huge coincidence, no side affects concerning CPAP usage). Still taking the medication.

Will do as soon as I have a clear head.

Howdy

Just read the thread on "How to post images for review", went to my R10, popped the SD card, locked id, imported it... and no data yet from my last session.

I actually noticed the lack of data not from the sessions start/end times (that´s how messed up my head is now) but for I had changed the EPR settings (on full time, level 3 --> OFF) and noticed it still showed EPR as ON.

I guess the data is still "in RAM"? I noticed previously the R10 takes at least +- an hour for the data to be sent via the wireless link to Airview, I guess it takes as much to process/write data for each night to the SD card? Doesn't seem to make much sense though imho.

Will try again tomorrow morning (11:47 pm now). Unlocked SD card, will pop it back in the R10.

Very best regards.

Folks, btw, as I read the Sticky "Newbies PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING", boy, did this excerpt [bold added] sound familiar...

"6..... And it isn't going to happen if your sleep quality is crappy no matter how good the therapy looks on paper.
4 hours of sleep...not enough to expect to see improvements.
Highly fragmented sleep from lots of wake ups during the night...it's going to mess with sleep quality no matter how many hours you are in bed.".

Cheers mates.

Palerider, thank you so much for taking the time to help me out.

As for R10
"the very first night I used my brand new Resmed Airsense 10 autoset, with pretty much the same settings,..."

I shortened to R10 due to thread title size limit.

Per your kind suggestion just updated my profile.

Cheers

Thanks.. As you can see, there are a lot of "R(esmed) 10" something machines.... and knowing which one you have makes it more possible for us to help you.... since the different machines behave differently, and require different settings and such.

What we need now are some sleepyhead charts, to see what's going on.

Thank you very much palerider for your kind and thoughtful remarks. Prior to that, I will give myself one last push to dig deeper into the flow rate to try to identify interesting abnormal breathing patterns over the course of one particulary "hellish" night.
Cheers.
