Cracked resivoir

Post by Audry.Camille » Mon Nov 26, 2018 5:31 am

After reading through several posts I didn't see what I've experienced. This is my 2nd resivoir and both have cracked along the bottom and into the seals. I only use distilled water, i don't put anything into the resivoir, and i daily wash/rinse it. I'm wondering if it has to do with ambient air temperature since my bedroom is always in the mid/high 60s (how the ventilation is) and the resivoir is heated.

No, i don't disassemble it
No, i haven't stepped on it or dropped it
I'm allergic to the majority of essential oils so they're banned from my home

Some insight is appreciated
Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

Second water chamber to break over how long of a period of time?

What is your daily washing routine?
Do you use a dishwasher or hand wash it?
How hot does the water get that you wash and rinse it in?

Is it possbile that - for whatever reason - the reservoir does not fit just right and you have push too hard to get it in or pull too hard to get it out?

Why do you feel the need to wash/rinse it daily if you're only using distilled water?

Are you sure it's actually cracked? Is it leaking?
Might the "crack" actually be a line from the mold it was formed in? Seen people mistake that before, too.

The sleep therapist said to wash/rinse daily... so i am. And yes it's cracked- stepping in a pool of water first thing in the morning is not my normal routine. And the resivoir was bone dry. So there's that...

Well, maybe you should demand that your sleep therapist pay for/replace your HH tanks at NOT COST to you or your insurance because they should NOT crack or break. There is also no logical reason to wash/rinse them daily either. Distilled water is "pure" and the intake air filters in your machine should remove any other impurities in the air before it enters your machine.

your best answer will be found by bringing your machine with the broken reservoir to the business that sold it to you, where you get your supplies, and ask them what the problem is. they need to physically look at it. No one here can see and touch the machine or reservoir and tell you what the problem is. the temperature of your room is not going to be the answer.

The DME will always tell you to wash everything every day. The faster you wear things out or break them, the more they can sell you and make money. They are not in business to support you, they are there to maximize their profits. When I first started, the RT I was working with said she washed hers and her husband's equipment once a week. I have since gone to a schedule where I clean the mask cushions once a week, and everything once a month, with the exception being the hose. I never wash the hose unless I am recovering from one of my bronchitis attacks.

Sounds like bad luck to me. My reservoir began leaking and eventually ruined the top finish of my oak barn wood night stand. It wasn't a major blow out. Just small enough to make me run out of water every night for about a week before I discovered the problem and the underlying warped wood. Had to take it to the kitchen sink to confirm the leak along the seam. My tank was a little over one year old.

The reservoirs usually supplied are not the dishwasher-safe ones. I rinse & dry mine out about every 3 months, as needed.

Washing the water tanks/ pillows wears them out ? How? I wash my pillow daily because gross, morning breath! Why wouldn't I wash it out ?

Washing the pillows by hand with a mild soap makes sense. Only distilled water & filtered air is in the water tank. Only occasional washing is needed.

SEE A DENTIST!
Halitosis is a common symptom of dental problems.
If it is so bad it bothers YOU, it is past time for cleaning and repair.

I assume you mean the teeth & not the CPAP machine
