Sleepyhead reporting lots of leaking?

Post by Weef23 » Fri Nov 23, 2018 10:19 am

Hi All,

I'm seeing in sleepyhead 20-30% over leak redline every day and it says "Your mask is leaking way too much" on the summary. I don't feel a leak at all except out the elbow on the top of my head and out the front holes of my dreamwear full face mask where it's supposed to leak.

I'm not seeing anything on the graph as far as large leaks reported by the machine in the event flags so I'm not sure what is going on. Do I just have the redline set too low?

You have the red line set too low.
SleepyHead defaults to the ResMed red line threshold for large leak of 24 L/min.
Your profile shows a Respironics machine and its red line actually varies and is much higher.
If you aren't seeing any Large Leak flags on the Events graph...you aren't hitting large leak territory.
Either turn off the red line statistic or change it to something more in line with where the red line is on your machine with your mask and at your pressure. Since it is a moving red line...just get it close or just choose a conservative number like 60 and see what ends up being reported.

End result though...your machine reporting leaks trumps the red line statistic which is a SleepyHead calculation. If you aren't seeing any large leak flags then it doesn't matter what SH reports in that percent of time over red line statistic.

Thank you so much for the info! That makes me a lot less nervous.

Any idea where I could find the proper values to set for the redline at certain pressures? Would it be part of the manual for the mask or something?

Respironics machines don't *have* a redline. you should go into the menus and turn off 'flag leaks over redline'. It's a failing of sleepyhead that it just leaves the resmed settings on respironics machines.

Respironics machines operate on total leak, and since the amount of air vented from the mask varies with pressure, your leak (and the 'redline' will also vary with pressure. Just look for 'large leak' flags.
