Newbie with a new mask

Post by DracoZaroff » Thu Nov 15, 2018 11:10 am

Hi everyone!
I've been on PAP therapy for a month now and I've had a very noticeable improvement. I typically use the Resmed P10 nasal pillows and that works alright but I do get some soreness under the corners of my nose.
I tried a felt cover and that was much more comfortable but ended up causing a condensation problem.
I wanted to try a full mask so I got myself an Airfit F30 but I haven't been having much luck with it. I haven't been able to use it for a whole night because it becomes too uncomfortable. It feels like the head gear isn't holding it in the right position and to get a seal on it I need to tighten it too much.

welcome to the zoo! two things-

1. if you want to stick with the P10, may i suggest using a product called Lansinoh? this is lanolin and has been used for a very long time to help nursing mothers and their sore nipples. put just a very small amount directly on the nasal pillows. it helps sooth and heal the sore nose, too. look for it in the infant care aisle.

2. go to youtube and search up videos on how to best fit your mask. it may seem instinctualy incorrect, but mask fit should be loose, not tight.

good luck!
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

So I checked out YouTube and found a few minor adjustments to how I was fitting my mask and that did the trick!
It's still not super comfortable but I think that is just the nature of the beast. It's certainly much better than the first night I tried it.
I told my wife about the lotion you recommended and she said she'll pick some up after work for me.
Thank you for your help.

you are most welcome! i'm very happy to help, because i don't have any technical advice to give. so when i can recommend something it makes me feel good.
