THC, Sleep & CPAP data

Post by comfortsteve » Thu Nov 15, 2018 7:27 pm

I'm Canadian & we've had Marijuana legalized for about a month. I'm experimenting with taking THC to help with insomnia & am curious if anyone here is doing the same, but using CPAP data to monitor effectiveness or if there's anything useful there at all.

There's some recent and useful information concerning CBD oil in this thread in case you didn't see it:

Speaking from my own experiences with smoked marijuana and CPAP, I have consistently observed some of my lowest AHI's after having taken a couple of tokes of high quality cannabis during the early evening. I don't use marijuana specifically for sleep issues, but my more restful sleep and lower AHI's have definitely been a side-benefit, I guess.

My marijuana usage is generally in evening social settings and no more often than weekly. I find that it helps me manage my alcohol consumption to no more than a couple of beers or glasses of wine. My observations have always occurred after consuming small amounts of both cannabis and alcohol prior to going to bed. I'm not sure if I would have the same outstanding AHI results with cannabis alone. Also, cannabis + alcohol acts as a mild stimulant to me for the first few hours after consumption. Personally, I can't imagine taking a couple of tokes plus a swig of chardonnay and going straight to bed.

My recommendation is that you try a toke or two of the good stuff (at first with no alcohol) a couple of hours before retiring. Monitor your AHI and restfulness, and adjust accordingly. You may later want to add a glass of wine to the mix. If this works for you, I think you'll be far better off than a nightly dose of Ambien or Lunesta. Don't expect too much since the results can be highly variable from person to person and strain to strain. You have to find your own personal sweet spot:
