Additional humidifier
Anyone use an additional humidifier in your room with the humidifier on your machine? My sinuses are getting pretty dry with the furnace being on. I thought about settling up a separate humidifier on my night stand. I have my machine humidifier on the highest setting, but it doesn't seem to be enough.

Re: Additional humidifier
I have had a humidifier in the bedroom for my wife.
This year its not required because she now has her own apap machine.
Personally maximum humidity(level 6) on My Resmed S9 auto has been enough even when I have had a head cold.
Problem is that the reservoir will run dry before morning at that level.
The workaround is to preheat the unit and run maximum humidity for ~60 minutes while I read in bed, then turn it down to 5 for actual sleeping.

Re: Additional humidifier
I haven't done that, but I think it's a great idea and I'm going to try it. Can't hurt, right?

Re: Additional humidifier
I use an HC 150 external humidifier in series with the built-in one in the CPAP. The heated hose for the CPAP won't work in this configuration so I've added and heated Hybenite hose as well. Together, they supply humidity from about 15 oz. of water in a typical 6 hour night - 18 oz. for a 9 hour night. The usual CPAP humidifier chamber holds 11 oz. of less.

Re: Additional humidifier
The use of an additional humidifier worked good. I currently have a sinus issue going on, which is probably why I suddenly needed additional humidity. Hopefully when this thing is gone, I won't need it anymore. Otherwise, I'm going to need to by 10 gallons of distilled water every week.
Re: Additional humidifier
If you use an evaporative humidifier, then distilled water is not necessary. They're available at WalMart, etc. Only the "cool mist" ones need distilled water to avoid the untrafine white mineral dust that comes from using tap water. Just a thought.
