No Battery for Resmed S9 VPAP Auto??

Post by Posey » Thu Oct 18, 2018 12:10 pm

Ive been using Resmed S9 VPAP auto for 6 years now. 100% compliance. It seems to be running just fine. The only problem I have is that during power outages I am totally miserable. This has happened twice in the last couple months. It takes me 2 days to get rested and sane again even with only a partial off night. No problem I think, I will get a battery backup. Well, then I find out that even the pricey Resmed battery won't handle the VPAP Auto. At least that's what I've read and been told by two online suppliers. The suggestions for using deep cycle batteries with diagrams horrify me. I can't imagine having that set up in my bedroom. So it looks like I am down to 2 choices. 1. Find a machine that is similar but can use a battery or 2. deal with miserable nights when the power is out.
Does anyone have a better idea? I am willing to buy a new bipap unit if I know it will use a battery backup for at least a full night.

Did you look at this? It says it is compatible with the S9 VPAP Auto.

Pricey but the kit comes with everything you need I think.

Yes, that is why I called customer service. The person told me there wasn't a long enough lasting battery for my unit. After a lot of hand wringing, I ordered a battery with the appropriate cables and bits. I understand that the humidifier will use power rapidly but figure I can go without it better than I can do w/o the VPAP.
The Resmed battery requires you to hook it up after the power goes out and I wanted one that would automatically start when power failed. None of the choices are excellent.
When I get it, I'll try it out and see how it goes. If it is necessary, I'll order a 2nd battery to add in. I still think I need a back up machine in case mine goes kaput but that's another issue for me to work on.
Thanks for your suggestion. :D
