How to change user name on AirCurve 10
How to change user name on AirCurve 10
Today, I discovered the name of the original user of the AirCurve 10 I recently bought is still embedded in the machines data. I have not seen this myself, but was told about it by a new sleep doc I met with today. She was not disturbed that I had bought the machine second hand nor that I had been self-managing my treatment for the past ten years. In fact she was pleased with the overall results and was more than willing to work within that framework. She stated that I had made the decision to move to bi-level from straight CPAP and saw no reason to change anything at the moment other than to attempt to wean me off supplemental O2 for travel and to get me certified for bi-level to allow me to get support and supplies through Medicare and through any DME I wanted given I had Carte Blanche as to supply source. She is ordering an in lab split study to do this efficiently. The only strong negative she mentioned related to mouth taping and that was largely given some evidence of Acid Reflux. At this point she seems most reasonable. But, back to the original subject: has anyone had any experience resetting user data on an AirCurve 10? If so, how to do it without destroying old data.
For those in the Pinellas County Florida area who may care, she is Dr. Lisa Whims-Squires in Clearwater. This evening I found one reference from 2005 here related to her practive: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2884&p=21733&hilit= ... res#p21733

Re: How to change user name on AirCurve 10
Sleep doc is wrong. There's no way to put a name, or any other identifying information into the machine.
Perhaps someone else signed up online with that machine and it's still showing their name on the account, but that's an online thing, nothing to do with the machine itself.

Re: How to change user name on AirCurve 10
The machine's serial number is tied to another person.....apparently that other person used the MyAir online service.
It can be reassigned or registered to you though. Your doctor needs to just ask your DME to call up ResMed to make the change.
This is ONLY for the online MyAir stuff. There's absolutely nothing in the machine itself with anyone's name to it.
The MyAir stuff using the serial number and an email address to put a name with any machine since that's part of the registration process for using the MyAir website.

Instead of "myair" I'd say "resmed cloud" for want of a better name, since doctors and DMEs use a different interface (AirView and something else that escapes my memory at the moment) but yeah, it's just got a name tied to that serial number back in the resmed data service... not the machine itself.Pugsy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 10, 2018 3:05 amThe machine's serial number is tied to another person.....apparently that other person used the MyAir online service.

Brain was in hibernation mode last night when I typed that. I don't think it really matters though...I suspect the MyAir stuff gets tied to the ResMed Cloud stuff somehow.
I do know that docs and DMEs who have access to ResMed can easily reassign a serial number to a new patient though...if everyone wants it reassigned.
ResMed won't do it just on a patient's say so though. We don't matter to them.
I never bothered with having my used AirSense for Her machine reassigned because I don't care who gets whatever data (if anyone is even looking) since I don't have to make anyone happy but me.

Pretty sure it's all the same on the back end, we get the dumbed down myair, dmes and docs get airview, both looking at the same dataPugsy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 10, 2018 11:43 amBrain was in hibernation mode last night when I typed that. Re: How to change user name on AirCurve 10
I may well have been misinterpreting what was being said and condensed much of the conversations during the visit. It wasn't the doc herself who mentioned the ID, it was the nurse who was reading my card. Her first question was "did you get the machine second-hand?" and mentioned a previous owner in Oregon. Since she was reading the card data at the time I interpreted this to mean the info came from the card and thus from the machine itself. Given what PR and Pugsy have said, I now think she was connected to MyAir, AirView, or some-such from whence the ID came. She did say they didn't care that I had bought it second-hand only that they were operating with complete data. The doc did say later that they encounter the situation frequently and that Respironics makes it much more difficult to re-assign in that it means going back through the original DME to request it be done. From that I take it they may have already done it so now they have a clean record which includes the full term of my usage (36 days as of that date).

Re: How to change user name on AirCurve 10
She may have used the card data to get the serial number and that's what is used to gather data via the ResMed web interface.
Now there might have been some old data from the prior user still on the SD card (if the card wasn't erased before you use it) that showed up if she was using ResScan and that would have maybe caused her to go looking on the web.
There is absolutely nothing on the card/machine that tells anything about who used it and where it was used.....all that had to come from the nurse being on the internet and ResMed's website.
They didn't care because they can easily see past the name and just look at your most current usage results which in the end is all that really matters.

Re: How to change user name on AirCurve 10
More likely than not. I fully reformatted the card prior my first use; thus, unless I am still in a knowledge dead zone, I believe if data was on the card, it was put there by me. I also reset the machine and essentially started from scratch. My error came from thinking the initial ID was in that part of the machine's firmware/memory that was not touched during the reset.Pugsy wrote: ↑Thu Oct 11, 2018 8:06 amShe may have used the card data to get the serial number and that's what is used to gather data via the ResMed web interface.

Re: How to change user name on AirCurve 10
It's not on the machine anywhere but instead tied up in the cloud to the serial number. If they are okay with it there is no huge reason to reassign that serial number to have your name on it in the web.
You can't access it because on the patient end it is also tied to a personal email account.
On the doctor's end the serial number is all they need to access the web stored data.
It's your data now though even if it has someone else's name and the fact they are in Oregon on it.
As far as the prior user...if he has a different machine...and uses the web based source from ResMed...he will have a different serial number now for his data stored. He would have zero reason to access the data from your serial number machine.
Most likely he bailed on therapy and that's how come the machine got sold privately.
