Is my AutoSV machine still available?

Post by photonic » Thu Aug 02, 2018 7:55 pm

I am an pproximately 5 year user of Phillips Respironics BiPap AutoSV Advanced System One machine and doing fine. But the machine is starting to age and the main knob just broke but was repairable. I would anticipate needing a replacement sometime in the future BUT I can't find the machine on cpap.com or at the Phillips site any more.

I am wondering, is it still made? Is there a better replacement? Mine also has the heated hose and the heated humidifier.

Thanks for any help you can provide. I have been away from the board for a while.

Not still made, replaced by the dreamstation version.

Keep an eye on craigslist for a gently used much cheaper spare.

Wonderfully fast response. Thanks. Looks like with further seaching that old "new stock" versions might be still available at other companies but prince is still about $3,500 Ouch. Hmmmm used market, now there is an idea.

Do you know if the newer version is "better" in any significant way for handling complex SA?

What an awesome board this is........

JDS says it's somewhat different: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=171395&p=1248112#p1248112

If you want better... look at the Resmed S9 VPAP Adapt or AirCurve10 ASV. ;)

Well, Generally, I like resmeds better for a lot of little reasons, they're better built, better engineered, hold more water, come with a travel case, don't take proprietary filters, take up less space on the side table, they're quieter, they provide more detailed data, and for the auto cpaps and bilevels, they're more responsive to needs, they respond faster, and prevent more apneas, among other things.

They also *invented* the ASV concept, and I believe they do it better. My housemate uses a S9 ASV.

I don't remember the settings on the PRS1 AutoSV, but the Resmeds are almost completely automatic, min/max EPAP, min/max PS, and let it do the rest of the work ;)

Well that is wonderful information. I'll do more research. I wonder what our other asv users think? Hmm perhaps a comparison post.

Thanks Palerider. I am glad you are still around and helping people!

If you are happy with the 960 ASV from Respironics, you will be even happier with the DS900 ASV DreamStation machine.
All the parameters that you now have will move directly over without change.

Not so much going from the PR machine to the ResMed machine.
There a tiny but real risk that the differences in the internal algorithms in the ResMed machine will be annoying.

Btw, are you still using the Oracle 452 mask? Having any issues that I could help with?

Oops i sent a reply to your pm before i read this post. Your thoughts are noted and appreciated.

Yep, still using the oracle mask. No problems. Just use the large size nose plugs. Ocassionally will fall out but rarely. Don't use the strap; just stick it in my mouth and go! I do use a self made cotton tshirt material face piece to protect my skin from the silicone which feels more comfortable to me. Cannot understand why the mask is not more popular. So simple. This combined with the "hozer" tube management gizmo and its so easy. Actually can't imagine using cpap without the hozer. That thing is just plain brilliant. I use it at home and all around the world.

Cheers.

I'm in a similar boat and trying to figure out whether to buy a used one out of pocket from Second Wind ($1400 currently) vs. the new DreamStation (if insurance will let me replace it preemptively).

Does anybody know what changed between the System One and DreamStation series (other than cosmetics)?
