Returned CMS50F. what now?

Post by yawnny » Sun Sep 23, 2018 11:29 pm

My recently prchased cms50f broke, and contec refunded the cost. I was never very happy with it anyway due to function changes from previous model.

Is there a similar recording wrist model ***w̶/̶u̶s̶b̶ with wifi? *** I thought there was but I couldn't find it now.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

*** CORRECTION MADE TO CHANGE w/usb to w/wifi *** which is what I meant to type initially.

I've done a whole host of searching as well, and the answer is, unfortunately, "not many".

There are a couple of wrist-worn ones like the CMS50F that holds at least one night of data recording, a couple of decent finger probes that typically don't hold any data - and then you have the big guns: the oximetry modules for certain machines like the Airsense 10. Those are almost more expensive than the machine itself though, but if money isn't an issue, they are by far the more accurate ones.

Why do you need a pulse-oximeter?

LOL, because I'm an obsessive weirdo. Actually I have some lung issues, along w/sleep apnea, and although I've never found anything radically different from expected results, just that fact makes me feel better.

Note my correction of usb to wifi. Anyway, since the software that reads the data from the CMS50F seems to be capable of accommodating wifi data, I was hoping that they made a model with wifi capability, I could swear that when I was first searching, I found a CMS model that had that feature for approx $170, but it looks like I was mistaken.

I've never seen a contec that does wifi, putting in a wifi key without a keyboard would be hell.

Now, I do have a cms50i that does Bluetooth.

In my research, I failed to locate one that operated on wifi. There were a couple that had Bluetooth capabilities, but it was hit or miss according to reviews. It's definitely a field that needs a few more products on offer, but until there is enough demand for them, we're stuck with what we've got.

Bluetooth seems to work OK for audio, but my glucose meter (Accuchek Aviva Connect)
is hit or miss. Any more, I have to re-send once or twice EVERY DAY.
I have called their tech help, but they are not much help.

Yep, Bluetooth is actually what I was looking for, too lazy to go back and edit all occurrences. :)

Amazon does not appear to have any, and the other outfits don't inspire me too much as it appears that they may ship from China. Dunno, maybe get another 50F.

I did just find this on amazon Bluetooth-Enabled Innovo 50F Plus Pulse Oximeter with Innovo SnugFit Probe . Is Innovo 50F Plus compatible with SH? Anyone got one?

Indeed they are, but since the CMS50F was shipped from Oak Brook, IL I thought that it would be reasonable to stock a few CMS50i there also. But seems not so.

The majority of them are. Of course, the majority of them are also not sold as medical devices, because that requires more stringent testing practices (at least, in the Western world). Most of them are sold as "athletic equipment" to monitor heart rate and O2 saturation whilst doing sports, exercising, etc.
