Acne problems

Post by FaethSilverwolf » Mon Sep 10, 2018 8:46 pm

Hello Everyone,
I hope my question hasn't be asked before.
I've started to notice that I'm getting acne right under where the cushion rests on my full face mask. Does anyone know of a way other than washing my mask daily which I already do that could help prevent the acne?

I don't have any advice, but I can suggest asking this at https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction

Mask liners are key. I use the Remzzz’s and I have oily skin that can be acne prone so I wash the liners every other day and reuse them. I also use pad-a-cheek strap covers and wash those regularly as well. Face oils can over time dirty the headgear too can trigger acne on parts of the face that make contact with your mask and mask straps.

An old t shirt under your mask will help. One t shirt will probably make 4 or more liners. Just cut out a triangle 1 1/2 inches bigger than your mask. Then cut a centre triangle 3 - 4 inches from the outer edge. This will allow your skin to breathe, avoid blocking your pores and will avoid oil build up on your skin. It will also absorb any excess moisture. Use a clean one every night. On the ladt day, wash them all, gently and dry on a towel. Don't twist or wring them, because without any seams they will loose shape easily. Cheap and easy in the colour of your choice.

If you want to make your own liners, you can find a pattern at this site:
http://montfordhouse.com/cpap/diy-cotton-mask-liner.pdf

I made mine out of an old, well-used tee shirt. You can get several liners our of one shirt. This liner will work with small and medium sized masks. It can be enlarged for large masks.

Peculiar choice of name; the word "addiction" has judgy overtones--of course, we are totally permitted
to augment that which Nature has been less than generous--including using CPAP.

Looks legit, people helping people with skin care, might be worth a look. not all reddit forums are toxic.

The "addiction" part is self-deprecating humor; there is a good number of users spending stupid amounts of money on skincare. But other than that it is a legitimately helpful and well informed community.

I get acne if I don't wash my face or shower before bedtime. The morning face wash is with very little Cetaphil knockoff and cold water, yikes, but it also seems to quickly get rid of the redness outline from the cushion.

Like you I mostly always everyday very lightly wash the mask with Dawn. Going on 10 months with same F20 Airfit cushion. It does not have usual yellow staining and is not torn.
