Travel bag for ASV

Post by Lancaster » Tue Sep 04, 2018 6:18 pm

My trip is coming up quickly and I cannot find a carry on bag that is the correct size and adequately protects my ASV machine.
The rolling kind has a long metal handle with the hard metal bars inside the carry on bag where the machine would rest against it and is not quite deep enough.

I have a London fog duffel bag with strong sides but it is 20 x 11 x 11 which is slightly outside the size for United flights.

I don't need another carry on because I am checking my regular suitcase.

I thought I could put my machine in a bag under the seat in front of me but my son says I won't have any room for my feet on such a long flight.
He says I will end up putting it in the overhead compartment on the 787 which has lots of room.

I have never traveled with my machine before and am anxious about the idea of someone else slamming their suitcase into mine in an overhead bin.

I thank everyone who helped me figure out the international electricity/adapters/cord situation. I sure learned a lot.

I was actually able to find the exact cord I need for my specific Repironics machine thru hope2sleep.com in the UK who kindly shipped it to my home in the US and bought the correct adapters just in case.

If you want the "official" travel bag: https://smile.amazon.com/Philips-Respir ... B01IDO603U

Others have found that an appropriately sized camera bag works well.

You are traveling via United?
My condolences.
Do not let your ASV be handled by airline personnel.

How about one of these in the appropriate size? I own a number of them, and I feel the odds of your machine being damaged inside one would be very low.

Thank you very much for the bag suggestions.

My son is using his frequent flier miles for our trip.
Chunkyfrog if you can please tell of your experience with United.

I frequently (Every other week) fly with Ryanair (Bargain Basement cheap flights on 737-800 all cattle class) Bristol to Dublin only 1hr flight but the same has work on mid haul flights (5hrs+) when I travel with my CPAP machine I put it in its own Resmed Bag it sits upright under the seat in front of me tight to one side this gives ample room for my legs without being an issue and I can be in contact with it at all times.
