Don't know who she is but got a good chuckle out of that response.

The comments from some of the readers are better than Abby's reply:
It isn't a surgery I would have since it's ineffective about 1 out of 5 times and for those it is effective for the snoring often comes back with time. Then again, I don't have to consider it because my apnea isn't obstructive, my husband's is though and I would strongly advocate against the surgery if he considered it.
My husband's neurologist/sleep doctor isn't a fan of surgery for snoring because of the low success rate and post op complications. He put the hubs, who has severe sleep apnea, on a CPAP machine. He is also treating him for restless leg syndrome and REM sleep disorder with medication. Between the snoring, twitching and thrashing about at night, neither of us were getting any rest. I finally got him to go see a doctor by A) telling him I was terrified he was going to die B) telling him I was tired of having to leave our bed to go elsewhere to get any rest and C) that I refused to sleep in our bed with him until he saw a doctor and addressed these issues. He made an appointment as soon as he realized that I was serious. Lol! At any rate, he's sleeping and feeling much, much better and I am too! ... each person's situation and sleep issues will be different but basing a decision on fear is rarely ever helpful. My husband saw another set of doctors before we found the doctor who is currently treating him. They proposed surgery. They explained, we listened. When we left their offices that day, my husband told me that he flat refused to do it and I replied that I flat refused to let him do it, lol! We found another doctor! I don't know all the details of this couple's situation but I'd strongly suggest getting a second and even third opinion. And thank you for your well wishes. We found an excellent doctor who has addressed all of my husband's sleep issues without resorting to surgery or massive doses of drugs and he (and I) are both sleeping and feeling much better. I hope the LW and her husband can find some relief. I know my husband wasn't really aware of exactly how little restorative sleep he was getting until he was getting a good night's sleep again and had some basis for comparison. But, like the LW, I was painfully aware of how little I was getting if I slept in the same bed with my husband. :)
My husband and I can't sleep without our CPAP machines. I love mine.
I have a crisp ten dollar bill that says the Letter Writress snores, too. You get to a certain age, and the sinuses just start flapping....as do the arms and chins. But, snoring is like farting: broads never cop to it. They only complain about it!
I had the surgery in 2013 and that was the beginning of my misery. The ENT assured us it would help with my snoring. My husband says I've only gotten louder and to top it all off I now have problems swallowing thanks to the constant nasal sinus drip running down my throat. I have lost a considerable amount of weight, I have no energy and I still get sinus infections which was supposed to stop that from happening. Thanks Dr. Dean! LW should not insist her husband have the surgery. The CPAP should suffice.

Thank you, granny!
A little dose of reality, indeed!
