Excessive mask breathing noise

Post by kjfishman » Tue Aug 21, 2018 10:28 am

I have been using a Philips Responics WISP mask and my wife says my breathing noises get louder as the night wears on and wakes her up. It starts out very quiet and it doesn't seem to be the mask leaking. I am using a humidifier and the pressure on the Bi-pap is 14 / 9. Any suggestions to resolve this would be appreciated.

Leaking? Mouth opening? Check the data to see. My husband complains sometimes that my mask is noisy but it's really me opening my mouth.

The other possibility is that the vented air is bouncing off the bedclothes and causing the noise.

Show her what these things sound like when you're both awake and maybe she can help you narrow down the cause.

Thanks for the response. I have the chin strap so that rules out my mouth being open. My AHI is usually between 3.6 and 4.6 but most recent was 10.67. This first time using SleepyHead program it is nice to see whats going on because doctors don't tell you much.

It rules out your mouth being *OPEN*, but all a chin strap does is keep your jaw closed, however you can *easily* breathe through clenched teeth.
