Hints On Using The Search Option

Post by upforsleep » Fri Jul 27, 2018 1:50 pm

Hello all,
As you can see, I don't post much at all. I read daily the new post but in the past I have used the search box for research for answers for various problems as they came up.

The search box is at the very top of the front page at the left margin. It's not very user friendly so I created this post to see if others that understand it better would post here with helpful hints to better define the search.
For instance, are there charecters to insert between two words to search threads with both words only?

I have one hint: It's not advisable to post a reply on a search thread as it "bumps" it to the front page and it could be several years old.

Understandably; Many of you don't have the time to spend daily on research, but those of you that do it can be a valuable tool and you may find other solutions from products you didn't know existed.

Any successful search begins with the right question.
Often my browser brings me right back here, and lets me use more than 2 words.

Thanks Chunkyfrog,
I think you may have referred to a google search, which does often bring you right back here to an older thread. Great point that google search is a better search engine.
