Re: Leak rate, Central Apneas and Clear Airway
I honestly would not worry about any AHI data at this time. When you mouth tape, do you find the tape still firmly applied to your mouth when you wake up?

Re: Leak rate, Central Apneas and Clear Airway
Make note of possible relationship between the nights with a higher AHI with or without large leak flags because it might be related more to sleeping position than with pressure or leaks.
If you see uglier reports on nights you were maybe on your back more...maybe a minimum pressure adjustment would help the machine better deal with the AHI and it's not so much the leaks that is the problem. Might have happened even without large leaks.
If you look at your above report the worst leak happened early in the night and you didn't have any events flagged and while the machine might have simply missed them...I doubt it would have missed all of them. The other large leak with the large number of event flags..wasn't quite so bad of a large leak but maybe those events happened because you were on your back and the first large leak maybe you were on your side.
Just something to look at and think about...maybe the combination of sleep position causing a greater pressure need and the loss of said pressure due to the leaks let those apnea events slip past the defenses.

Re: Leak rate, Central Apneas and Clear Airway
OKay, I really taped my mouth shut last night. Still getting large leaks, though not as bad. What I'm curious about in the sleepyhead data is that I had a period of lots of CSR and CA's when there was no leaking.
What do y'all make of this one?
Tonight I want to try my old nasal pillows, but I believe my machine is set for the nasal mask? Do I need to change that and how do I do it?
Thanks so much!!
Lindsay

Yes, the tape was still stuck to my face this morning, so I highly doubt that the leaks were mouth leaks.

Can you zoom in on the flow rate during the Green PB/CSR flagged time?
Easiest way is to pick the CA/Central flagged in the middle of that CA cluster at around 6:40 AM.
Go to the events tab...click on the CA category and then it will expand to show the time of the events..pick the one in about the middle and click on it. The graphs on the right will all zoom in so you can see probably 2 or 3 flagged events and the CSR green.
On the right side...show the Flow rate graph zoomed in and the pressure and leak rate. The other graphs aren't particularly useful.
What I am looking for is to try to figure out if you were asleep or awake during those flagged CAs and CSR time.
See this thread for format of the graphs that we like to see.

Yes, if you use nasal pillows you probably should change the mask type setting on your machine. There is a small change in flow needed to maintain a pressure setting with each mask type due to the mask's resistance. Probably not enormous change but a little change. Not the end of the world if you forget. I have changed masks and forgot to change the machine setting and couldn't really tell it did much.

OKay, nasal pillows last night. Taping held all night.
This just looks like a total mess.
Sigh.

Pugsy, I believe I fixed my plots and zoomed in on the area you are interested in. THis is for the night I had the nasal mask on. I'm going back to that tonight.
Further criticisms welcome.
Thanks all!

Close, hit F10 to turn off the useless right panel, and expand the charts a bit more, you don't need both pressure AND mask pressure, pick one or the other please.lindsayschach wrote: ↑Mon Jul 16, 2018 10:40 pmPugsy, I believe I fixed my plots and zoomed in on the area you are interested in. Re: Leak rate, Central Apneas and Clear Airway
The green flagged CSR/PB time looks like plain ordinary PB waxing and waning and not real CSR.
If you look in the manual it shows what real CSR looks like and yours doesn't at least with the 2 Centrals flagged here.
https://sleep.tnet.com/home/files/resme ... -guide.pdf
I wouldn't worry about it at this time. Your leak rate was below 24 L/min at the time of the CSR flagged stuff so I don't think that the sensors were maybe misreading something due to leak.
The second CA flagged event...might be arousal related...hard to tell for sure but the breathing flow rate after that second event flagged looks a bit jagged like might not be fully asleep.
PB is nothing more than a waxing and waning of the air flow that lasts for at least 2 minutes. CSR is but one of many forms of PB. Not all PB breathing is the real deal CSR breathing which can scare people when they see it.
At this point all I can say is work on mask movement leaks and sleep with which ever mask simply is more comfortable for you that you like the best.

Thank you!
I didn’t know the user guide was so detailed and cool. Thanks for pointing me at it. Fascinating reading for CPAP geeks and former scientists who use cpaps (me).
