Go to the "our collective wisdom" light bulb at the top or go the link below for reasons to get APAP.

I will be seeing my ENT in a month to discuss the same thing. Let me know how you do.

the reasons I used to my sleep doc, were (a) have lost some weight and plan to continue losing, on a fixed CPAP they say you should be retitrated every time weight changes by 10 lb or more (b) major differences in sleep study between supine (52) and lateral (13) and left side (6) so not smart to deliver same pressure regardless (c) my feeling that I didn't have a normal night' sleep in titration study.
I got my autoset eventually, it has delivered nights as low as 6.6 and as high as 10, though I was titrated to 7. When I eventually saw my titration study report it said that I had very little REM that night and very little delta, unlike in diagnostic study, and it concluded that the CPAP was not fully successful in treating my sleep disorder. Long story, but providing an autoPAP saves money and unpleasantness if it avoids a second titration. I( notice that after overeating slightly on teh weekend my pressure on the autopap is up and after getting a few pounds back off it is down. I even notice that when i go to bed earlier and calmer I tend to need lower pressure.

I was able last week to exchange CPAP for APAP doing the following:
1. Talked to my Dr about writing a prescription for APAP using reasons mentioned earlier and saying that existing treatment using CPAP have not made a difference in spite of 100% compliance, using the mouse tape and etc. I also brought my detail Encore Pro reports to show that I was serious about my treatment, did my research and would continue bugging them until they would do what needs to be done.

If you read postings on this site even for several days, you will know enough for the Dr to take you seriously. Also, it is my understanding that it does not make a big difference for them whether you get CPAP and APAP. . As several people mentioned earlier, the insurance code for CPAP and APAP is the same.

The Dr mentioned that my insurance would not pay because there were prerequisites for APAP and I did not satisfy them (which was correct). I responded that if she wrote the prescription I would take care of the insurance.
Once I got the prescription, I called my DME. Initially, he wasn’t happy (because they get a lower profit on APAP comparing with CPAP). But when I mentioned that I was ready to return the CPAP and to buy an APAP on the Internet (which is correct), he said that he would make an exception just for me. Right

I had the APAP for two nights and my sleep is much better. It can be a coincidence as two nights are statistically insignificant, but:
1. I can collect and analyze more data from APAP
2. I was prescribed 10cm and already found that I spend 90% of the time on 8cm
3. I can always set it up in the CPAP mode if APAP does not work for me.

Good luck and let us know how it went.

As I have mentioned before, the lab titrated my wife at 6.0. Her Encore Pro showed her over twice that high. I showed our PCP the Encore Pro, gave him some printouts from MyEncore and gave him a brochure I downloaded and printed just for him. Sure enough, he wrote the script for a Respironics auto BiPAP and she is still using it.

Taking data and info in worked for us....good luck

Installing Software is like pushing a rope uphill.
I have Encore Pro 1.8.65 but could not find it listed
under software.

I LOVE the SV.
