Any Mac users out there using SleepyHead?

Post by Jeff_Snore_No_More » Tue Jun 26, 2018 2:01 pm

I learned about SleepyHead software from this forum. I'm an iMac user, so I posted on the Apple users forum, asking if anyone there was familiar with SleepyHead. It was suggested to me there to stay away from it, since the site https://sleepyhead.jedimark.net/ indicates it's compatible with Mac OS X 10.7+. OS X 10.7 is old; OS X is up to 10.13 now. So the assumption is the software hasn't been updated in years. My question to anyone reading this is, are any of you using SleepyHead on OS X 10.13?

Many people here on the forum use a Mac with sleepyhead loaded on it. The developer of sleepyhead does not always keep his site up to date.

Works great for me on my Macbook Air. I am running High Sierra.

Only real issue is if you want to import O2 levels. I have not gotten this to work with CMS reader on Mac. I must import to Windows and then load the file.

The 10.7+ doesn't mean 10.7 only, it means 10.7 and later.

I'm on High Sierra (10.13.5) and it works fine. As does the new SleepyHead Beta v1.1.0.

Let me rephrase that... "Compatible with OS X 10.7 AND LATER VERSIONS"

It works just fine with 10.13. Oximetry imports also work when using Contec CMS50F with the proper drivers.

I’m a Mac user and Sleepyhead has always, and still does, work just fine. Would be completely lost without it.

Ditto for me - I'm on a Mac with High Sierra, and Sleepyhead runs great. One small issue - if I remember to write protect my SD card, it downloads to the computer in a few seconds. If I forget, the download can take 30 seconds.

I've got an iMac and use High Sierra 10.13 and it works a lot better than it did on W10

I specifically pointed out in the Mac forum that the SleepyHead compatibility indicated "10.7+", and I said there that I assumed the "+" meant anything later than 10.7. Here are the replies I got:

That the last version number they bother to mention is Lion, 10.7 (which is now ancient), the likelihood the software has been updated to work correctly in anything newer than 10.9 is very low. Putting a + after a definitive OS version can be pretty much translated as, "I think it will work without modification for the near future." The OS has changed a LOT since 10.7. While simple apps tend to work without much attention from the developer, many at least needs tweaks in response to how the OS itself has changed. Without them, apps can act strangely, or just outright break."

The official results of your CPAP SDHC card data should be read periodically by the respiratory care specialist at the medical facility that issued the device. Their software is current, and specific to the devices they assign to patients, and may reveal events, or trends that signal recalibration of the machine, or data patterns that necessitate device replacement. You won't get this level of software currency, or professional review of the plotted data by free software that is now long out of date.

At any rate, thank you one and all for all of your replies. I'm going to download it! YAY MAC!

I don't see v1.1.0. The SleepyHead site https://sleepyhead.jedimark.net/ shows 1.0.0-beta-2.2. Where did you get Beta v1.1.0?

Some test builds of 1.1 were posted on the SleepyHead Facebook page by Mark. 1.1 is mainly to get the framework more up to date and fix some bugs in 1.0.

Be sure to back up your data first. If 1.1 uses your current data you cannot safely revert to using 1.0

Thank you so much. When you talk about backing up data, are you talking specifically about the data already put into SleepyHead? I haven't installed it yet, so I have no data to back up.

P.S. I went to the Facebook page. Where is the download?
