Hello all:
Well i bit the bullet and retired my Oasis humidifier for a brand new Respironics heated unit. I have it connected to a Respironics Pro series about two years old. This unit works well and I am enjoying the Cflex, but, When i connected the heated humidifier up it doesnt work even though I have pushed the HEAT button and selected "2" on the heat scale. The little red light on the humidifier wont light up but the Pro works fine....... Sorry for such a long explanation but do any of you have an idea what might be wrong. I have no insurance plan so buying this all on my own and avoiding those extrememly high service providers. Thanks for any help you may have.......... by the way what does anyone think of heated humidifier? I thought it would be better..
Dave
My new Respironics humidifier doesnt work...........Help!
which humidifier do you have?
If it is the Remstar for the Classic, the machine has to be properly seated on the base and the short cord plugs into the machine to power it, and the cord that normally plugged into the machine has to plug into the base of the humidifier.
The little Red light is Green on mine.

The humidifier won't get hot, they only warm the water to like 98F or something even on the highest setting.
There is a photo-eye on the base of the humidifier that picks up a signal from the machine to turn on and control it if it is like the above.

The "classic" Respironics heated humidifier that you'd be using with an older Pro machine (not an M series machine) has to have the long and short plugs arranged the way Snoredog said.
The short cord is connected from humidifier to cpap machine, like a pigtail. The long cord goes from humidifier to the wall outlet. Not having those cords in the right places is the most likely cause of the humidifier not turning on.
If you're sure you have the cords arranged right, then here's something that occurred to me: when you mentioned holding the heat button down long enough to access the heat setting, you're not trying to go to the heat adjustment setting every time you try to start the humidifier, are you? If so, that could be a problem. Once you have the heat setting where you want it (on "2", as you did), and have exited from that "heat menu", don't hold down the heat button down so long that it shows the setting when you try to turn the heat on. Just press the heat button briefly to turn the humidier on.
Additional note -- The humidifier will not turn on automatically when you turn your cpap machine's blower on. You have to manually (briefly) press the heat button to turn the humidifier on.
The humidifier will turn OFF automatically if you turn the machine on, but it won't come on automatically. Have to remember to turn the humidifier on again if you happen to turn the machine off and then back on again after a bathroom break at night.
The humidifier does turn on automatically when an M series machine is started; but doesn't with the "classic" REMstars (pre-M series.)

One further guess.
If you have the Respironics H2 h/h then it has to have its own power cord and it has to be turned on ( soft button on left when facing the water chamber end) using its own on/off and the heat set using the 'temp ctl' soft button on the top in the middle.
(actually, the H2 model while using the same water chamber, is intended for use with older non Remstar shaped xPAP boxes).
The traditional Remstar shaped h/h works using the 'fibre' optic link between the xPAP and the h/h.
The traditional h/h s are remarkably robust units & unlikely to fail easily.

Thank you all.
Thanks for all your help. I will try all suggestions and thanks again.

Dave,
The humidifier you have pictured in your profile is actually a passover (NON-heated) humidifier.

Is that ACTUALLY the humidifier you have? OR, does it look like the one that Snoredog pictured in his post?
