My current machine is a resmed s9 autoset which I've have for many years. The doctor is sending me for a new sleep study and said I can get a prescription for a new machine.
Are there any opinions on which machines are good these days?
Any opinions on Mini CPAP machines? Do they work as good as a full sized?

Re: Opinion on What machine eto get
Welcome to the forum.
The biggest complaint about those tiny "mini" travel machines has been noise...either a lot of machine motor noise or mask breathing (Darth Vadar) noise.
I haven't heard anything about how they might fair when used full time.
Be careful...from what I have read insurance won't pay for those tiny machines. Not sure why unless it is because of the lack of added humidification with some of them.
If you need your moisture...don't get one of those mini machines. At best they offer very minimal added moisture using those humid X things that catch some of the moisture in your exhaled breaths and try to give some of it back to you.
The tiny machines that do have a real humidifier available will end up being about the size of a regular machine if you add the humidifier unit.
I would suggest you stick with the ResMed brand and just get the newest model which is the AirSense 10 AutoSet. Same working algorithm as you are used to and you might not like another brands algorithm (they are all a bit different).
Some new upgraded features with the AirSense 10 models but the working guts of it they didn't change unless you want the for Her AutoSet which has an additional auto mode that is new and different...but it also has the regular auto mode like your S9.

Re: Opinion on What machine to get
Thanks for the reply. Sounds like the mini CPAP machines have issues so I will stick with a full-sized machine.
Do you happen to know if there are any companies that offer trial periods for CPAP machines? I would love to try another brand just to have a comparison to the Resmed.
But if there is no such thing as a CPAP trial then I will most likely be sticking with Resmed. (Have you come across any news on when Resmed will be coming out with a new version of their machine) It would be a bummer to get the Model 10 version and then one month later Resmed comes out with the model 11 version).

If the Resmed algorithm is already working for you, I'd stick with it. The humidifier bin is a bit awkward in the beginning, but after awhile, you wonder why you had so much trouble.

I don't know of anyone here in the US who will let you try other brands on trial. You might simply ask your DME (or whomever you get your equipment from) if they will let you try another brand. They might have a loaner they would let you try.
There might be an online company that will let you rent....I haven't looked but it isn't a common thing here in the USA.
Now other countries...yeah, there's places that rent them.
I will tell you this...I started cpap with Respironics and eventually got a chance to try ResMed...so I have extensive experience with both of the 2 main brands and I prefer ResMed. I think it is a bit less noisy and I like the apap algorithm better. It lets me use a little less minimum pressure than I would have to use with the Respironics apap brand.
I do understand the curiosity thing though...that's how I ended up trying the ResMed because I wanted to know what it was like.
If you can't easily and cheaply find a different brand just get the ResMed. You know it works well.
As to when to expect a newer model. They keep that under lock and key. I haven't seen or heard of anything about a newer model.
We all know that they are always working on something newer but they don't make it public until right before a release.

You've got the best, just go with the new resmed airsense 10 autoset.oreooreo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 15, 2018 8:34 amThanks for the reply. Sounds like the mini CPAP machines have issues so I will stick with a full-sized machine.

Respironics don't treat as well (for many people) and are noisier, and take up more space on the nightstand.
