Difference between Resmed App and Sleepyhead?

Post by ezliv » Thu May 31, 2018 9:30 am

I have been using the Resmed App to monitor my events, leak rate etc. Is there an advantage to using Sleephead instead? I was diagnosed through a sleep clinic study (have had 2 so far) as moderate OSA (25 events per hr). I havent gone over 3 since starting Cpap according to the Resmed App. Does anyone else use this app?

The App is mostly an encouragement tool for continued use. Sleepyhead gives much more information depending on which machine that you are using. Some are full data and some only compliance data. So if you fill out your equipment profile it would help us to give you more information.

The ResMed app is designed to give medical people and insurance companies assurance you are actually using your machine.

SleepyHead is designed to provide you with the your sleep data so you can judge how well CPAP is working and make adjustments to improve your therapy.

In short, the ResMed app is concerned about money, SleepyHead is concerned about the effectiveness of your therapy.

The most obvious difference is that the ResMed Software only works with Resmed machines. Sleepyhead works with machines from a variety of manufacturers.

Sleepyhead lets you see how to improve your therapy. myair let's you have a quick glance that says things are probably still good after it got fixed in the first place, but it doesn't tell you squat about what's wrong.

Resmed have two products the mobile app which only shows very basic information and Resscan for detailed analysis using data from the SD card. Sleepyhead compared to Resscan is much easier to see the details of the breath flow and events is much more colourful will zoom into breaths much easier but supplies the same detail as Resscan as the detail is provided by the machine. You cannot print compliance reports from Sleept head. I use both products, Resscan to print out reports for my sleep nurse as she is used to the output from that software. Sleepyhead to view my data as I find it easier to view the detail and what’s going on.

I do not bother with the mobile app MyAir as it does nit provide any detail and is focused on compliance and usage not on the quality of treatment

That doesn't stop people from doing it and taking it to their physicals for medical certification... Depends on the doctor/evaluator whether they'll take it or not.

Of course you can - just print the Statistics tab view and take it to your doc. As PR stated, whether they accept it is up to them. In my case, no problem. One additional benefit is that regardless of how many machines you are reporting on it can all be in a single report with no need to print multiple views and hope the doc will take the time to integrate the various reports.

I suppose it depends on your definition of a compliance report... someone needs to take responsibility for the compliance and that you as a user are compliant the needs of that approval will be determined by the body/person putting their professional opinion on the line and the reason for compliance requirements

  Do I need to start editing for spelling and grammar errors? Man, that's a huge added workload.
Still wouldn't be perfect though because most of the time even if there is an error my brain corrects it before it registers and I don't even see it.

Like I didn't notice the let's vs lets thing or the recent "your" when I suspect "you're" was meant. I have to make special effort to see the errors.

Every Saturday for years, I read James Kilpatrick's column, "The Writer's Art". I love to catch mistakes in the morning newspapers. Misplaced modifiers are my favorites.

"The patient was referred to a psychologist with several emotional problems."
