Circadian rhythm sleep disorder remedies?

Post by MNsleeplessnights » Sat Apr 28, 2018 11:59 pm

Hi, does anyone have experience with Circadian rhythm sleep disorder? I believe that I may be suffering from it, but I'm not certain. Would it be possible to have Circadian rhythm sleep disorder and insomnia overlap, specifically with CRSD affecting constantly waking up in the night? Anyone have any remedies or aids that help them with Circadian rhythm sleep disorder?

I have DSPS - delayed sleep phase syndrome. I have referred to myself as a severe night owl for over 20 years.

I used to participate in an email list for night owls. A lot of people tried things like medications and special lights. Most felt like they had to keep at it all the time and really didn't feel success.

I gave up trying to become a morning person. I would just get sick when I tried to pretend to be a morning person. I decided I like being a night owl. That said, I do have days when I have to be up early. Especially when I have a cat show to attend or go on vacation. I have learned coping skills. And I make it through. But I revert back to a night owl as soon as I can.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

I was living the life of a day person for the first 33 years, then took a job that landed me on third shift. 40 years later I am still in night mode. I don't go to bed until 1 or 2 A.M., yet I haven't worked for 15 years. The body wants what the body wants! Jim

I can't wait to retire and stop fighting with trying to function in the 8-5 working world. By Friday I'm dragging, but still can't sleep before 1-2 AM. Been this way since high school (50+ years). Hate when people say "Just go to bed earlier." I should be sleeping now but.....

Even retirement isn't a complete answer, you still have to deal with the 8 to 5 world. Medical appts and such. Jim
